Suede/Nubuck Brush process?

Hi everyone,

The seats on my Civic SiR have the outer areas (seatback, etc) made out of alcantara, which is similar to suede/nubuck.

I purchased a suede brush to get the nap looking better and to help with cleaning, although I can't figure out what side of the brush to use!

It includes a few different brushes, but the two main sides are a rubber bristled one and a metal wire side. Which side should I use and is there any type of method I should use (which way to brush, etc)?

Thanks!

Please do not use a suede brush on Alcantara. Alcantara is not leather/suede or nubuck it is a fabric and a suede brush is likely to tear it.

Alcantara should be cleaned with fabric cleaners taking care not to use any solvents or to over wet it which could cause delamination.

The rubber side seems great at bringing the nap back though. I understand alcantara is somewhat of a different material than suede, but it feels almost identical to the nubuck I had on my shoes a few years ago.

Bump, no one else has alcantara in their car with some guidance?

This is the brush I've purchased, obviously I wouldn't use the hard side shown facing forward. The rear of the picture has the softer rubber bristles.

Bump, Timberland (the boot company) makes a rubber brush...I was looking for something fabric tho. A lot of the suede brushes I see are metal or rubber so I would stay away from those...looking for a brush with soft bristels (sp?).
