Subaru Wagon WRX

MrCLRider

loves rubbing paint
I corrected this Subaru for a friend yesterday. Last year I cleaned it up for him before I had my G110 and array of products. I started at 9 with an ONR wash, and then brought it in and taped it up. Sorry for no before pics, wife had the camera, and BB Pearl would have done it no justice.

Correction was done with Megs 105 and white CCS & LC pads. I felt it finished down nicely, and with the amount of rock chips and other RIDS and deep gouges, I didn't feel the need to spend the time and jewel it down with what little ability I have with the G110 and 85rd. It has an LSP of NXT 2.0 because that is what he wanted and for what he paid me I was not going to waste my new RBOE on it or my sample of SNv2...lol, I'm mean.

OK so onto the random pics, out of the 38 I took, I like these the best.

thanks for looking!!

Nice.

Quick question though.
On a price per application is there a huge difference in Dollar amount ? Not percentage, but the actual dollars expended per application.

And is this actual dollar amount so significant that you would not do it to make a customer (friend or not) extremely happy?

To me the dollar amount was that significant. Was it wrong of me to post that I didn't want to use the high dollar products on his car, probably. To him the final result is all that matters, and he was head over heals happy. It took me the 12 hours, and I only charged him 100 dollars to do it. Sorry if that makes me look bad in your book, and that is not generally how I think I operate my side job, but I feel I was trying to make a point that something as simple as a 9 dollar sample of Megs 105 with one pass accomplished...sorry for the rant, and I hope I didn't loose any respect from you as a fellow detailer, or any of you for that matter.

I wasn't asking because you "looked bad" in my eyes. Not at all.

What I was wondering is if you really look at the $ per application the costs arent that different. (ex the sample pot of sn) Sample pots are VERY expensive.

Your friend should be very happy with the results. It's spectacular.

Sorry, I jumped the gun a little on that comment, thank you for the comment

Nice Job Fergy.

thank you!

I kinda do the same thing. If the customer isn't at all picky, I'll use lesser quality stuff on the car knowing that they'll be pleased anyway as they wouldn't tell the difference. I'll also use top quality stuff on these cars too if it's something I want to get rid of because I don't like it and I know it will get the job done.

Well done on a hideously colored grocery getter... J/K :gotcha:

Looks like it's smooth as glass.

STi's are sick..my friend really wants one, but insurance is so different from a WRX to an STi for him..

looks clean well done !!! NXT2.0 is a good quality product and has been proven to protect for a long time but to me with my selection of waxes and sealants I always let the customer decide among my products along side with my personal opinon on what would look better on what paint surface regardless whether its a $30 liquid product, $40-$80 paste product OR even a 15-40$ spray product that all accomplish a similar end result ...

to me the product wouldnt matter its the overall pricing that reflect the cost of ALL MATERIALS USED on PER CAR .... for me a 12 hour job would easily be $240.00 but thats me .

either way well done but i think u coulda made a fair amount more money ...

and dont u use a orange pad for m105 and not a polishing pad ? or was it white cuz its a megs buffing pad ?

:cheers:Awesome Job MrCLRider!!!!!!!!!!! I just love:love: the WR blue on the subaru's. Good reflections shots. Megs NXt 2.0 looks good on it. I just love seeing shiny wagons!!!:rockon

I was using d151 but had to do two -three passes to get it to correct close to what I thought was exceptable. The roof was nasty, so I figured I would just bump up the compound a little and stay with the white CCS pad because I know that the white pad can finish down ok, and with the 105 having the SMAT's technology, I figured it would finish down ok depending on my pressure and arm speed, and sure as it was, it did! I finished 3/4 of the car with 105...

I only charged him what I charged him b/c he is a very good friend of mine, we go way back, to Sophmore year in HS..so I don't mind loosing my ass to him...he networks alot, and last time I did his car he got me 4 deails off of that one, so this time with it being a little clearer in the paint, i'm hoping for atleast 2 corrections, becuase I get 30 an hour for corrections usually..
