Subaru owners chime in...

I am in the market, at least thinking about being in the market, for a new ride. I am really digging the Subaru Impreza RS's with sport package.

Any feedback from the Subaru crowd would be great.

I think they are a good value. We own an 04 WRX and we love it. Fit and finish are not up to par with some of the other cars I've had/driven. I think you may be a bit disappointed with that area coming from a Honda.

Fuel economy is not great, but not too bad. The RS has much better low end torque than the WRX, so that part is great. This is the first AWD we have ever owned and we love it. We never worry about road conditions or anything like that. The Imprezas have a very loyal following, so if you are into modding, there are plenty of ways to go also.

Go to nasioc.com to see other opinions from RS owners.

hey Bob. My buddy works for Subaru if you need a discount.( I think I told you that a while ago?)
Also he said the wrx's may get the turbo 2.5 for 06 if that intrests you at all....

Thanks fellas! I am worried about fit and finish too but the AWD might make up for it. ;)

Steve, what dealership does he work for? I might go see him :D

I'm a huge Subaru fan. I grew up with them and they are awesome. I never had a Subie that lasted for less than 250,000 miles before it died. Maybe not this coming year, but the year after that for sure I am going to be getting an '05 Legacy GT. Those suckers are awesome. Articles that I have read put them equal or ahead of even the WRX performance wise. Subaru obviously can't advertise it that way because it will hurt sales of the WRX, but on the tests that some magazines and independent automotive review specialists really rate them high up there. Speed, safety, AWD, performance, and the Subaru quality are all reasons that I am going to get one. I love my Integra and up till now I haven't seen or driven a car that I would sell it for. The price point is around 27K-30K, so its a little higher than the average sedan out there, but I think it is absoultely worth it. :bigups

Here is some good info that you might want to take a look at. There are a zillion pages on the internet praising this car if you search on google or somewhere like that. I just need to decide on a color and I'm all set. :naughty

I don't own a Subaru but I came close to owning one. Took many test drives in the WRX, STI and Legacy GT. I agree with the comments on the fit and finish on the Imprezas. The Legacy actually had a good fit and finish. Found the Subaru pricey compared to other Japanese compact cars, but I think the price is warranted given the hardware. There's some turbo lag, but it sure does pick up speed when the turbo spools. Picked up a brochure last time I visited Japan. Can't compare what they have there with what they import to the US. I would love to bring over an STI Forester. Here are some pics.

2001,
I actually own a 2005 Legacy GT. First Subaru I have ever bought (actaully, first new car I have ever bought also). Anyway, fit and finsih is great, power is great. I love the car. Plus the fact that it has AWD (haven't had a chance to really use yet), many nice features, etc., I think it is a great buy. With tax, tags, etc. I paid $27k for my GT. Only options added were the wheel locks, auto-dimming mirror w/compass, perimeter security upgrade, and spoiler. Now, the Subie doesn't have as many features as others in the same price range (navi, upgraded stereo, HID's, etc.) that the Acuras, etc. might offer. I have heard that the 06 GT's will have nav and HID's available, if that is important to you. Bottom line, I love the car, the driving is awesome, and the features are good enough for me.

He doesn't work at a dealer, he's an Engineering manager for them, he works in NJ. He can get them roughly at invoice....

I had a 97 Legacy 2.5GT sedan. It was one of the most trouble-free cars I've ever owned. I bought it new, drove it for 5 years, then gave it to my parents when I got my BMW 330xi. I'm at my parents' house right now for the holidays, and I just gave the old Subie a little S&W touch-up. Mom does a good job of keeping the finish clean (just like I taught her :D). I had hoped to put on a coat of the Signature Wax I got from Autogeek's giveaway promotion, but the snow and cold weather have just arrived. :( Gotta love all-wheel-drive cars in these weather conditions.
