Stunning 2008 LS3 Corvette

I was pretty fortunate with this one guys...

The owner let me drive this piece of American muscle around all day a week prior to detailing it, I'm hooked! It was probably the most fun I've ever had in a car. I took it for about 4 hours, on everything from back roads to highway. The coolest feature inside is that the Navigation gets projected onto the windshield when driving. When I returned he said "Alright, now you need to detail it". I booked him a time for next week (today).

Specs:

2008 C6 Covette

- 6 Speed manual.

- LS3: 442 Horsepower.

- East Coast Corvettes exhaust.

- Leather and navigation.

The car is a weekend cruiser and only has 600 miles on it. The paint was in great condition and did not need polishing.

Process:

Wash: Foamed with Poorboys Slick and Suds.

Clay: Meguiars. Clayed sparingly where needing.

Wax Migliore: Orignal Liquid Wax

Trim and wells: Migliore: Brilliant Trim Dressing.

Wheels: Migliore: Wheel Seal.

Tires: Migliore: Bella Lustra Tire Shine

Befores

Looks good, but on that very last pic it looks like there may be some wax left over that needed to be wiped down again. You can see what I'm talking about in the reflections of the light?

Otherwise, it looks real good.

I can't believe the owner let you drive it around for a day, that's a new one. Is this a regular client or do you know him somehow?

Do you know why he's got the old rims on a new vette??

Thanks Josh. I did go over the vehicle again after the pictures were taken, I should have mentioned that in my original post. It has been raining all week (you can see it just stopped in the before pictures) and I snapped all the shots quickly while the sun popped out.

As for driving, I've been detailing this clients cars for years. We've became pretty good friends, I guess he trusts me too :D.

The rims are just personally preference I guess, he ordered everything to his liking and I know he wanted chrome.

Good deal, I didn't know if you saw those smear marks or not. Glad you fixed it.

I know how fun they are to drive, I used to own one. I loved that car. Very fun and great gas mileage too.

Definitely, I was getting 22 mpg and I wasn't tooo easy on it :D.

this appears to have NPP dual mode exhaust. that would be 436HP and not 442, fyi (standard LS# is 430hp). nice car! :cooleek:

Bit off topic, but I figured since you mentioned it, what are the advantages (other than the obvious, not risking more scratching) to sparingly using a clay bar?

I find it, on my white finish, to be impossible to begin a process without claying first with the amount of filmy contaminants and brake dust.

Thanks for all the great comments!

I was under the impression that the LS3 Corvette based at 430, with the Sport Exhaust it clock is at 436 from the factory. The owner modded the exhaust to the dual mode: "stock" that opens around 3000 rpm vs. always open free flowing butterflys (loud). The gains from having this open throughout the powerband brought 6 more hp, that's where I got 442. I certainly could be mistaken, from your avatar I imagine you know much more about the product than I do :D.

Nice ride, nice job. You must have put half of the 600 miles on it.

:chuckle:I stopped for lunch and in a few rest stops, it wasn't too bad.

Full claying is usually done 1-2 two times a year. I find more containments prone areas (bumper, mirrors) need to be clayed more often to have a perfect finish. Like you said, I try to clay as little as necessary to prevent marring.

Nice job and I love the color. I was watching Ultimate Factories on National Geopgraphic this weekend and they had the Corvette factory episode on where they build the LS6. They say car goes 0-60 in 3.x seconds but manages to get 25mpg.

BTW - There are a few of us from CT on here.

 I've noticed there is a good following here in CT, nice to know :D.

Nice work! I've got an 08 as well with the NPP exhaust and Z51 package just like this car.

Nice! Do you have a link to the NPP? I'd like to read into it more.
