Stubborn layer of dirt/crud on bumper

After a long Chicago winter and unusual circumstances, I wasn't able to wash my car for 4 months and finally got to it today.



There seems to be a layer of extremely stubborn dirt on part of the bumper that won't come off. I tested a small area by scraping my fingernail through it and it does come off but only when scraping. I tried tarminator, mothers yellow clay and alcohol but nothing seems to work other than actual scraping.



Can someone recommend a non-abrasive method for removing this dirt layer? It's dark out now so no pic but the best way to describe is that it looks like carnauba but just damn stubborn!

Wonder how an extended dwell-time (find a way to hold a saturated rag against the area) with a product like AutoInt/ValuGard's "A" or FK1119 would work :think:



Otherwise, I'd do the scraping with a plastic razor blade.
 
I agree with giving some more dwell time. Get an old towel, soak it with water and spray with an APC, let it sit on the bumper for an hour or so and see what happens. Might also want to try it with a safe degreaser like Meguiars.
 
I've removed old house (or was it highway :nixweiss ) paint using FK1119 and a loooong dwell time. Got it soft enough that it came right off with very gentle use of a plastic razor blade. This was on the beater-Audi and had been on there for ages; the original owner had thought the panel would need repainted because nothing would get it off for her previous "detailer".

Someone needs to notify the Admin. I think someone has hacked into Accumulator's account and is making threatening claims of paint abuse. :soscared::LOLOL
