Ive searched far and wide and all I could find at NAPA was a large 3M tar and bug remover in liquid form. Is that the same stuff as the aerosol form??

Oh and to get back to the original question...How can I be sure all of it is gone? On certain areas that I know have not been waxed...ever, they definitely feel less smooth than the areas that I used Joy(didnt have any dawn), goo gone and little bit of clay. Makes me think that there is still some wax residue there. Oh yes, it was zaino on the paint...

Brad,

I know I know, but I couldnt wait. I want to put the xpel stuff on.

I only had it on there for about 20 seconds and washed it 2 times w/ dish soap. The bottle says its safe for autos, however...

I just thought one time wouldnt hurt...what could it do to the paint anyway?? I dont think there are any abrasives in there...

Its very oily for one thing and using lighter fluid and alchohol would clean better. But its loaded with petrolium distilates which act as paint thinners. I was worried because i thought you were using it solely to remove wax, not to prepare the surface for xpell. :up

Brad,

Goo-Gone is a citrus-based product, if I'm not mistaken . . . perhaps you're thinking of Goof-Off? That stuff stinks of petroleum distillates. I've used Goo-Gone to remove tar and tire rubber from paint before with no problems (other than ODing on the orangey smell).

Tort

I see that you live in OC, chances are...you surf.

Basically, Im not sure what the exact contents are but it looks, smells and feels just like surfboard wax remover.

And, that stuff works great on surfboards...as far as paint work...that is different, from what im gathering.

Does anyone know whats in it, the goo gone that is??

AND, whats the diffrence b/w that and 3M adhesive remover??

I know they both contain petroleum distillates...

I know that goo gone contains petrolium distilates in large quantities. Mix in a little orange juice and you have goo gone:)

Um klasse has petrolium distillates, i've used goo gone on paint before (not mine ;) ) and it did fine, don't let it sit there for too long (to be safe).

We all prewax so to make up for all the wax that is leftover upon our removal.

Besides wax isn't on there before the waxing step, I'd be more worried abou clay residue, swirl stuff residue, and PPCL residue. Waxes wouldn't survive all those steps, I think.

2009 Azure in need of correction. This car was taken care of very poorly by a previous owner and several dealerships.

Prep consisted of fully stripping the finish of all prior wax and glaze before correction.

These wheels set the car off very well, not a standard option for any Azure, they come from the Bentley Brooklands

Wheels cleaned and tires stripped of all old dressing

Onto correction...

Initial condition of the finish was like this, everywhere. Minor marring with lots of RIDS and fine scratches, some scratches ran 8-9inches in length!

Rear bumper was plagued and almost gray, even after wool and foam compoudning only about 80% of the defects were removed

Before, no need for light

The trunk area had some scratches too deep to remove with polishing so out with the DA machine and Megs unigrit sanding discs

Wow! Nicely done. There is a Bentley store here in Phx that really drives me crazy. They usually have a few on the floor that look like this.

Exceptional David. I really like the way you Swayzed the hell out of that thing.

That paint is so beautiful so flat, and so much of it! I'm sure you could use an advil thanks to that monster.

Outstanding work David. The future of detailing is in great hands with young men like you around :wizard:

Be honest with me. Are these pictures munipulated in any way :toetap05:
