Streaks on windows after waxing

Everytime I wax the roof, after it rains, I get these 'oil' streaks on the windshield that no glass cleaner or glass polish will get out by hand. (I have them on other windows but you can't see them unless I'm drying them or have the windshield wipers going, my only concern is the windshield for now) I finally found something that will get rid of it, barkeepers friend which is mildly abrasive, and after quite a workout I got them out from the windshield.

so I said to myself no more wax on the roof, but I tried AIO thinking it would only clean it but it did the same thing, not as severe.

Anyone else noticed this? I don't think I am applying too much wax, I go with 'less is more' but it's possible.

Today I waxed the car but only used instant detailer on the roof.I guess I can use a dedicated paint cleaner but I won't ave any protection on the roof. Any ideas?

BTW the waxes I've used, WG, UPP,AIO

I'm not using anything on the trim, the shampoo I use is four star.

I've used AIO+WG, AIO +UPP, sonus cleaner + UPP, p21s cleaner+ WG, one time I did try eagle one nano wax and nxt.

this all started with WAUD, wax as you dry. I got my new car in may 03 and wasn't interested in detailing until spring 04, my first product was WAUD that's when I noticed it. Since then I've been trying to get rid of the streaks with many polishes and I kept waxing the roof as the problem was still there.

Once I found something that will cut through it, I cleaned up the windshield, then used sonus cleaner + UPP and the marks came back after it rained...they did go away after about hour of driving with the wipers on. I cleaned it up again and then just used AIO on the roof and the streaks came back a little.

I'll try it one more time with super little product, I guess that's the only explanation?

I get the same type of problem when I have fog condensing on my car. I'll see streaks over all the horizontal surfaces as well as the front and rear windshields. I only have it happen right after I wax or QD. After the first wash, I won't see any streaks until I wax/QD again.

I can't see any of the streaks at all until the fog rolls in.

try polishing the glass w/ the buffer. Streaks that will not go away are usually caused from a chemical reaction of sorts; fallout, acid rain, etc. that have lightly etched the glass, polishing with a simple cleaner can get the streaks/haze to go away. Deeper flaws in glass can be polished out with some jewelers rouge and wheel. At a medium slow speed, add a small amount of rouge and always keep the wheel lubricated where it is working @ the glass, to help prevent discoloration and cracking of the glass.
