Streaks from clay?

Ok, I was talking to my friend today and he told me after doing his truck that the clay left streaks in the hood (not sure what he meant by streaks), but i didn't think it was anything i did, b/c i used a fresh clay bar and the hood was properly cleaned beforehand. I only did the hood for him b/c we bored one day last week and i did it for free just to show how much better i could make it look. Any way check out the before/after pics and tell me if you think i did something b/c it llooks perfectly fine to me.

thanks

let me know if the link doesn' work

ps. i figured even if the clay did leave streaks, (which i don't think it did) the ssr's would of easily took them out.

I don't see it in the pictures but it is probably something other than clay. The streaks could be of the wax streaking if he drove the truck within a day from the application of the wax, I've had that happen to me. Or it could be another factor that was out of your control, pollen, dirt, or something like that because 'streaks' could be anything.

When ever I see streaking its usually caused by two products not bonding together....What products did you use and how was it applied?

If he was claying and using the lube in direct sunlight he might not have been removing it fast enough and the clay and product dried quickly from the heat from the panel. I encounter that problem frequently because I do my detailing out in the heat. We need a better description of the streaks. Do they appear to be in the finish or can they be removed with some QD?

I've seen clay leave streaks, especially on red & black. I now try to clay when I wash now (thanks to this site). I've seen all streaks come off with any chemical polish (PP, KAIO, etc.).

I have had this problem. I believe it called "marring". I used the soapy water as lube also. However dunking the mitt back in the same bucket may have picked up some dirt. Needless to say I went on with the poilishing. Still I had "marring". It wasent untill the LSP with #26 that the surface cleared up.

I was using the "Sonus" green clay bar. Followed by AIO, and finished up with #26. I used #34 for final wipe down. All and all it turned out very nice(05' Rx-8).
