Streaking/Running on Black Trim on Exterior Mirrors

Any thoughts on this? I am experiences streaking, or rather, what looks like a liquid was poured on top of the mirror, and ran down the back, creating streaks. It is only visible in certain angles of the sun, but it is definitely there.

It was a brand new truck, so I know I caused it. Products I have used are:

Normal car wash soap.

OPC 3:1 - To help clean bug residue

303 Aerospace - To dress the plastic.

When I wash with soap, I rinsed them well. When I washed with OPC, I also rinsed them well, and did not allow product to dry on. When I dressed with 303, I waited til dry, then sprayed product on a MF pad, and wiped on the trim, left it to dry.

Thoughts? I'm doing something wrong. Streaking is on both mirrors, and looks almost identical.

its probably the 303 causing the streaking. try something less likely to streak like ultima trim and tire, gtechniq c4, carpro perl, optimum opti coat, permanon supershine spray.

I would try a differrent product. Maybe UTTG or CG V.R.P dressing. Once you apply the product, let it sit for a few minutes, then go back and lightly buff the excess off with a mf, that should help.

Besides the Ulitma approach, I'd consider LSPing those mirrors- clean the surfaces with KAIO (don't let it dry before buffing it off) and then apply Collinite 845 or KSG (again, buff off before it dries).

I like 303 on rubber (amazing how much it can drink!), but on plastic, 845, as mentioned above.

As everyone is already telling you BUFFING is usually the answer, especially right after.

Ive heard too many this and that about 303 and staining. I have not had that experience with using it. However i dont use it on customer cars anyway.

303 i believe is not a solvent base. so it will not allow the dressing to reach and penetrate into the pores of plastic.

pictures as well would help. How do we know that it is not painted plastic or some type of cladding?

Also, a good cleaning solution for this i use is a alcohol/vinegar solution. IPA 70% distilled white vinegar 30%

Thank you for all the advice. My current way of doing it (obviously defective) was to spray the 303 on to an applicator, and wipe on. However, I did not wipe anything off... but it was a thin application... I will refrain from using 303 in this way, and will try the above methods to hopefully clean this and restore back to original.
