GOT PREP?
The owner of this Miata was tired of looking at all the swirls. He knew they were there, but did not know how to remove. The car was a bit of a PITA to detail. It is small, but the swirls were REALLY deep. I returned the car to about 95% with some minor marring still left behind. I didn’t feel comfortable removing the amount of clear that would have been needed to fully remove the deeper swirls and scratches.
Evidently these suckers are pretty rare, it is a no-nonsense car for sure!! The owner bought the car and used and did not know much about the history. I thought for sure there were areas that had been repainted, but he wasn’t sure. The hood IMO had definitely been repainted, the orange peel did not match the rest of the car and there was “something in the base coat.
The process was:
Wash
Clay with Meguiars aggressive clay
Rewash
Meguiars #84 via rotary polisher @1700 RPM’s with a meguiars cutting pad
Meguiars #83 via rotary polisher @1500 RPM’s with a meguiars polishing pad
Poorboy’s SSR1 via PC @ 5.5 with an S.M. Arnold finishing pad
Adam’s butter wax by hand
OCW
Tires dressed with Meguiars Hyper Dressing 1:1
Windows cleaned with Meguiars NXT and a WW MF
Interior was a breeze, vac’ed, wiped everything down with Costco APC 10:1 and MF.
