Still using QEW

Ever since ONR came out, I have been considering switching over from QEW. ONR has had so many glowing reports. But after washing both my wife's white Tacoma and my white Dodge Ram with QEW, I think that I will stick with QEW. Both trucks look great. (I keep them well protected with Meguiar's NXT.) Washing with QEW leaves the finish looking like I washed them and then followed up with a good QD. Can't really beat that.

I've got both QEW and ONR in the garage and I still find myself reaching for the QEW sometimes as well. They're both great products - can't go wrong!

I have both and they're both great products. IMHO I think ONR leaves the paint looking slicker. I still like them both.

I bought a gallon of ONR last year after going thru a few gallons of QEW. The issue I have with ONR is that it does not release the dirt from my plush MFs that I use w/ ONR. I would go home and wash them while they where still wet. I have never had this issue with QEW. So even though I still have at least a half gallon of ONR left, I had one of the local crew pick me up a gallon of QEW when he was at Camping World. Now the ONR just collects dust on the shelf.

I agree Bryan. I also found that QEW cleaned the more stubborn dirt spots where the ONR left dirt on the finish. I'm sticking with QEW.

I agree. I use QEW for just about all my washing. I use ONR mixed up to QD strength as a QD, as a clay lube, for wiping down the interior, and for wiping down engine bays.

I just don't feel comfortable watching all the dirt accumulate on my mitt during the wash. QEW releases sooooo much better.

I went through 4 gallons of ONR before buying my first gallon of QEW.

I completely agree with GM and WW.

QEW:

1)Rinses the sponge/MF better

2)Cleans better (MI has terrible salt and sand)

3)More "lubricious"

QEW for me, I can't believe I used ONR for so long without trying QEW. Just goes to show that it comes down to personal experience, as opposed to, "what's the best ***?" Blahblah.

Do you think it gives a better shine when all is said an done ?? I thought ONR also left some protection behind , does QEW ??

IMO that is the one thing ONR has going for it

but a quick wipedown with 425 or AW takes care of that;)

:nixweiss I used QEW for 12 years and ONR beats it hands down in lubricity, added gloss, slickness and beading improvement and that is based on side by side usage. Both seem to clean equally well and I can get both locally (QEW was actually easier for me to get until the RV place closed) and QEW was a few bucks less.

Gloss, slickness and beading for me, don't make a difference. My cars are always waxed and that's what I want to shine through.

Living in MI, cleaning ability goes to QEW hands down. ONR I would consistently get dirt on the towel, and yes, I wash panels at least twice. QEW, no dirt at all on the towel.

ONR does NOT rinse well from the media, and I can't stand that (No rinse is right, it doesn't rinse).

If anyone has not tried QEW, do so, its cheap enough to try and you'll likely find that it cleans wheels waaaaaay better than ONR.

not tried QEW yet, but have found that since I started using a sponge (zymol or GS) all my issues with rinsing dirt from the wash media have gone away.

If I could find some QEW cheaply and easily I might give it a go :)

No it doesn't. They sand the roads here when it ices up and both ONR and QEW clean wheels equally well.

I use microfiber covered foam pads and I have no problem with the dirt not releasing from them after using ONR. I did with chenille covered foam pads but since that doesn't affect how the product works, it doesn't matter to me.

Gloss and slickness do make a difference to my regular wash customers. Nice to get that in one product without having to follow with a QD.

If you like QEW better, than keep using it, still a really good product. I just think ONR is a superior product.

This thread has a unexpected result to me. I have always thought the majority of Autopians liked ONR. I have some QEW. After the comments of others I think I will give it a whirl.

I used QEW again last August just by chance. I was at a car show and couldn't find a coin-op wash so I went back to the hotel and discovered I hadn't replaced my small bottle of QEW with ONR yet. Long story short, I really liked the QEW wash and found that my sheepskin rinsed out pretty clean.

I used an old Scottwax trick of shooting in a couple sprays of QD into the QEW bucket so maybe that helped it out. I have decided to use up my QEW before buying another gallon of ONR.

Do you still have the options with QEW as with ONR ?

SUCH AS :

using diff mixtures for clay , qd , washing , presoaking , door Jam and int. cleaning. I've found myself using it as an excellent all around product. Since I like keeping my truck as clean as possible ( damn tough during the winter salt and sand) I feel it's quite the money saver from going to the $6 touchless all the time , and then come home and have do basically do the same thing as I would with the ONR cleaning.

I use a presoak method and one bucket wash method. My MF get kinda dirty , but my drying towel is not bad at all as far as dirt on it.

I would like to try QEW if I can find a small bottle instead of buying a gallon.

Agreed. Many say that ONR doesn't release the dirt from their sponge, washmitt, etc. as good as QEW. I find this to be true. But I really don't care. When I use ONR, the paint doesn't get (noticeably) marred. So why should I care if I'm going to throw my Eurow shag mf in the washing machine anyway? Eliot Ness and Scottwax, thanks for sharing the trick of spraying QD in the bucket of QEW, I'll try that next time.

FWIW, 2 things:

1.) I've mixed 1/2 oz ONR and 1 oz QEW with 2 gallons of water and done a wash. Each time, the car was not as glossy (as when I use only ONR) and the Eurow shag mf was still equally dirty.

2.) In the end, ONR is a less expensive to use. Per ounce, QEW generally costs less than ONR. But if you follow each manufacturer's instructions, QEW is to mixed 1 oz per gallon of water, ONR is 1/2 oz per gallon of water.

Again, they're both great products, that why I have both. If given a choice, I'd grab the ONR. To make things worse this year, I just bought 6 gallons of DP 4 in 1 Rinseless from Autogeek since the gallon was almost 1/2 off (@ $25), 15% off orders over $95, and free shipping. This should be interesting :doh

I've got a 16 oz bottle that is just over half full. Been sitting in my storage room for about 3 years now but it should still be good. You can have it if you want.

I've used QEW as a QD without issue.

I've read that adding Z6 or Z8 gives QEW even more slickness and lubricity.
