Steam + paint = clean??

Hey all, I was talking to a friend today and he said that he ran across a car wash system the other day that I had not heard of. They advertise saying that the steam cleans the paint and all that needs to be done afterwards is a wipedown and your done. I admit that I have thought about it but NEVER thought about actually doing it.

Does this work? Does it actually get all the dirt off the the point where you can put a towel on it without marring? I just do not get it so any info would help me out greatly. I am trying to convince him that it can't do as advertised without marring the paint.

I don't see how you could feel confident the steam blew all the dirt off and could avoid marring the paint while wiping it down. I guess if the steam could act as a way to dislodge stubborn dirt and make it easier to wash and rinse off. Granted I would worry the steam would be too hot and could damage the trim on the car.
