Started a new tattoo last night.

Hail the power of Quattro
This one has been in the planning for a good bit of time. It's a combination of an elephant, an owl, and a woman wearing a fedora. I was sitting for a little over 4 hours and there should only be another 3-4 hours left. Let me know what you think.

Sweet. That is some impressive artwork. If I ever got a tatoo I'd probably keep it simple. Something maybe on my lower back right about where my belt is. It would be an 'Exit Only' sign or something. :D Unfortunatly I have the sort of career where visable tatoos aren't going to advance me, and I just don't have the lifestyle that would allow people to see a tatoo that wasn't visable at work, so I just haven't invested in them. I've seen some really really cool ones that I envy though.

So tell us about the meaning behind this particular design. That seems like a strange bunch to put in a tatoo unless there is some sort of story to tell. ;)

I always wanted to get an "M" on each cheek of my rear. That way when I bent over it would say MoM or when I laid on my back and kicked my legs up it would say WoW.

A little tattoo humor.

I really wanted to get it done in one sitting, but that shop won't work that way. The longest they like to do on one client is 3-4 hours top. I've gotten a lot of work done there, so my artist bends the rules a little bit with how long I sit and on how much they charge per hour. It will only take one more sitting to finish her up.

The woman wearing the fedora doesn't have any specific meaning behind it. My artist does a lot of great water color paintings in that style and I really wanted one. I'm not really sure why I told him to put a fedora on her, but I love the way it turned out. The owl signifies wisdom. It's like a small reminder to really think about the things I do in life and to try and make intelligent decisions. The elephant is there to remind me about all the things that happen in life, both good and bad. Afterall, an elephant never forgets. I really wanted something unique and random to fill up the arm. The arrangement I had in my mind was nowhere close to what he came up with, but I couldn't be happier with it.

LOL! That is too funny. :rofl

Audiboy, somebody stabbed you in the nipple. Ouch! I could never get a tattoo or piercing. I have this aversion to pain.

It took a little longer than expected, but I finished the tattoo today. We decided to add a little bit of background color to it and that added another session. I would have still liked to do it in two sittings, but we were there 2 hours after closing(5 hours total) on the second sitting and he was getting tired. I went in today for the last 1.5 hours and am really glad to have it finished. It turned out better than I could have expected. Let me know what you guys think.

I've got 9 now, with two of them with at least 10 hours of work into them. I'm always thinking of new tats to get. I was even thinking about them while I was getting this one. The sunscreen will be a must with this one. The yellows and oranges are the first to go, so I'll be taking care of it.

Nice tat...AB...but the pieced nipples? .....OUCH!!!!!

What can I say? I guess I'm just a glutton for pain.

I agree, is it all done though? I thought it would scab over and you would have to wait for the swelling to go down or something.
I must say it is unique.

There really isn't too much scabbing. I may have one or two small spots, but that's it. 2-3 hours after the tattoo, it will bleed all of the ink that wasn't accepted by the body. It will still be colored in correctly, but the skin can only hold so much. 3-4 days after getting the tattoo, the skin will start to peel. This is just the dead skin that got damaged by the tattoo process. A little more color will come off, but good artists know how deep to get the ink when it comes to shading, so what you end up with are the shades of the colors that the artist intended. 3 weeks after the tattoo the skin should be fully healed. A lot of the color for mine was dug in pretty deep to keep them bright, so my skin actually peeled twice in some areas for this one. After all the healing is done, you just treat it like normal skin. All you have to do is moisturize and protect it from the harmful rays of the sun. I'm not saying that you need to keep it ghost white, but at the very least use a 30 SPF sunscreen.

Looks good.

As far as the pierced nipples go.....Why? :scared:

Aren't you afraid of lightning? :D (Mythbusters)

or your girl getting mad and ripping one off?
