I found them interesting since I worked on Vegas (rebuilding engines) and actually owned a Pinto.

The Vega and the Citation drove a lot of people to foreign brands. The post oil crisis period through the 80`s was not a good period for American brands.

It was a sad time for car lovers. I remember the 1980 Camaro I bought that looked good, but the engine was so bad I was afraid to take off with traffic coming my way. I traded an MG Midget for it and sold the Camaro in 6 months at a loss. It was my first American 6 cylinder and my last.

I had a quick little 79 Pinto wagon (decked, milled, punched, ported, cammed, adjustable cam gear, rods/pistons, carbed, header, Mustang II 8" posi and trans and a bunch more). You could wind it to the moon. The type of car that you didn`t really need a tac to drive. Just step on it, spin it until you thought it might let go, hold it down for another couple of seconds and bang a gear. It`s one of those cars that when I look back, I wish I`d never have sold. There are only about a half dozen cars that I`ve owned that meet that criteria, it was a real sleeper and light to light smoked a lot of Ricky Racer`s and their V8`s.
