Stainless Steel Nerf Bars

I have a set of S.S. Nerf Bars on my truck and recently noticed they feel gritty. Could anyone recommend a product that will polish them and remove the roughness but will not harm the finish? By the way, I'll be doing them by hand so hopefully the product suggested will remove easily.



Also, what is a good product to put on S.S. for protection?

I found a product at the local hardware store named Tarnite. I used it to mirror finish the SLP exhaust system for my Mach 1 and am pleased with the results. It was not an expensive buy (around $3) and has some protective value. Since the polish was completed, I use Meguiars NXT Metal polish for maintenance and protection.
