Stainless Steel Cat Back Exhaust Need Help

Hello,



On my 96 Impala the one thing that really stands out is my Borla Cat Back. Unfortunately it is in pretty poor shape. It is extremely dull, has hardened pieces of rubber pratically glued to it (the occasional tire resurfacing) and just looks awful. I tired 0000 steel wool, which got some rubber off but didn't do a thing for the shine. I don't think metal polish is going to cut it this time. Whats the secret weapon for this sort of thing?

NevR-Dul is your friend. I've actually removed rust from chrome with it, I also did a buddies motorcycle titanium exhaust that his kid put thier shoe on, and melted a bit on the muffler, NevR-Dul got it right off.

I didn't even think to use that stuff,... haven't even seen it in about 5 years.

Ill keep a look out for a can,

Anyone else?

Really none of the above solutions will bring the 'new' look back to the raw stainless.



A green ScotchBrite and Cameo paste (available at grocers everywhere) works wonderfully.



This is only for keeping the main tubes clean/silver/unoxidized...don't use it on the polished tips.



Here are some before/after shots. This is simple and it quickly removes oxidation and burned on contaminants fairly quickly. Mostly it brings back the pristine look to the stainless.

PM me if you can't find any NevRDull...I think of got about 6 cans laying around.
 
Ok, the never dull didn't work out, but I used some #0000 steel wool followed by a rag buffing wheel on a drill and Top Bright Metal Polish and it looks really good.
