Usually a powerful water or a solvent based cleaner will remove wax/polish on trim. It can be difficult and time consuming though.

I find that Super Clean degreaser works well on most trims. It is powerful so use caution. Do not spray directly on the trim if you can avoid it.

peanut butter really does work - sometimes.

Sometimes, nothing works.

In addition to the items mentioned above, try the Magic Eraser.

As a last resort, the ValuGard ETG Kit is a very practical solution.

And the only solution for faded trim on Volvo/Saab/Jeep.

Good Luck.

Try mineral oil. You can apply it with a q-tip, let it dwell for 30 sec. and buff. No scrubbing required. Peanut butter works (sometimes) because of the oil. Mineral oil is much cleaner. (but not as good with jelly)

Just the plain old mineral oil you can get in any drugstore. I work in a histology lab with tissue biopsies that we embed in paraffin wax so that we can cut 5 micron thin sections for microscopic examination. Wax shavings get all over the machine which is used to cut the sections. Most people use the solvent xylene to clean up, but xylene stinks and is toxic, so I use mineral oil. It dissolves the wax, is easy to clean up, and is non-toxic.

Green Dimnd, fantastic tip. I just went out and did the trim on my car to see what it would do. I could not find any straight mineral oil, so I used Staples shredder lubricant (it is probably not cost effective) which is made of mineral and soy bean oils. Anyhow, all I can say is that you deserve a raise. I have had some success with various APC's but it would never clear up the stain perfectly. This process makes it like it never happened and it was easy and effortless (even with "OLD" wax). After I cleaned the area I then wiped the trim with an APC and then I dressed it. Thanks again.

Also, the only caution that I would add though it that this probably will remove any LSP that you have on the surrounding areas that are painted, so this step should be done before the LSP step.

Good point, mineral oil sounds terrible in a sandwich.

I am going to give this a try sometime.

i found this neat german product, so if i'm cleaning up trim i usually get good results with a horse hair detail brush in (circular motions) because if its dry and clean from wax it only gets better with dressing, then a pressure washer not to close now. . and then this stuff

i'm new to the board so i'll check to see if the site loaded but it is called refinish restorer,

or kunststoffauffrischer in its native toungue. . . carsystem.org
