ssr2.5/IP vs orange/green by PC help

Today I went to my car to tackle some heavy swirls and scratches on my saab that was repaint about 4 years ago(while) and never polished. After a dawn wash I went at it with this procedures which resulted in not improvement on the paint condition.

attempted combos:

SSR2.5 w/green propel = nothing

ssr2.5 w/ orange propel= nothing

IP w/green = nothing

IP w/ orange = nothing

So I worked everything in with the pc, spreading at slow speed, increasing speed and pressure, and making slow overlaping passes working the product throughly and the result was no change on the surface, the only good thing I could say is that it did clean un the paint a little bit and gain some slickness. This polished are suposed to be very agressive and did nothing. Do this mean my paint is really bad (which I know is not) or should I did something else. This is really frustrated since I was waiting the whole week to try my new pads and some products.. Any help will be really helpful and put into practice ASAP.

ps. I didn't clay because I'd clayed about 6 months ago and the paint still very smooth.

i wouldn't say your paint is "really bad"...but it probably has a very hard clear coat. hard clears resist polishing and it sounds like you would need a rotary.

if you have them, try 4" pads on your PC. also, what speed did you try with these combos? did you try speed 6?

Or just keep polishing...you may have to hit it a few times, but I have never ever seen a car that you couldn't at least cut the swirls in half by polishing 2 or 3 times with IP. It has to be at least denting it. Keep the speed at 6 and lean on it if you have to.

ok then; if my car has hard clear, what's the next more agressive I should go by pc, after using IP AND SSR2.5 with no results

Get a 3.5" backing plate and some 4" pads..... the PC will cut a lot faster with the smaller pad because it won't bog down like it does with the larger pads.
