Ssr Help

Hi, I´m posting this thread because I need help!!

the setup I´m using to remove swirls from a VW Passat is:

wash
clay
SSR 2,5
SSR 1

Today I did my first try, using a PC, I spread the product on a Propel yellow pad, spread it on half a trunk, PC@3 spread the SSr 2,5 then PC@5 for about 3/4 minutes each time. I did it 3 times, moving the PC for about 3cm / second, medium pressure, and 90% the swirls are still there!!!

in Your opinion, what am I doing wrong???!!

thanks

In my experience using SSR's this is what I do with fantastic results.

I apply using a PC, same as you describe, medium/light pressure with maybe more speed (around 4.5 to 5). I repeat if I'm not satisfied. Sometimes the swirls are deeper that you think!

I apply using a X and + technique. No circular motions. That goes the same for removing it with a good terry or m/f towel. Make sure they are top notch as bad towels can re-introduce swirls!

Prior to the PC, I had a WEN ROB and I used a wax application bonnet and that worked like a charm. Using medium pressure.

First, I would turn the PC upto 5.5-6, it doesn't sound like much but I've seen a difference. Second, make sure the pad is not creating more swirls, then you'd need to move to a less aggressive pad if it was, third you may need to do some or all of the following:

use a more agressive pad ..orange I believe for Propel
work the SSR2.5 longer
move to an even more aggresive polish like SSR3

thanks for the quick reply!!!
I was told that germanic paints are hard, but I was not expecting this hard!!!!
tomorrow I will try a more agressive aproach!!I was really disapointed, since it was my first atempt on swirl removal, I guess I just have to keep trying!!!

thanks again

Just keep at it and don't go too agressive at first! You need patience with certain finishes! I have the whole collection of SSR's and I'm very happy with them!

thanks for the advice!
yes, that´s one of the things that I learned from experienced detailers "surfing" through carcare foruns, always start as less agressive as you can!! that´s what I did, but If is not working theres only one way, going a litle bit more agressive, until the results start to appear!!!
