SSR 1 and 2.5 stuck in pads

Is there any special trick to removing the SSR's from pads? I seem to be having more and more trouble removing the old polish from the pads after I use them. I usually just wash them by hand with laundry detergent, but that didn't seem to work today, so I tried dish soap also, but to no avail. Does anybody know of something that will get the SSR's out? I'm just wondering if there is something known that works really well for the SSR's, but might not for other polishes. Thanks in advance.

I fill up my wash sink with dawn, soak the pads for a while, then i push the pads against the bottom of the sink with the palm of my hand. They come out pretty clean...

I agree with Jeff!
Also if the SSR or other product is in spots you can apply Dawn drops directly to the spots and they come out quick. For stubborn stains, I like to spray a little candle wax remover or kerosene on the pad (when it's dry, spin it on the PC if you just washed it) and it works wonder to restore your pad to like new shape!

I have a little bit of staining on a my LC pads but I found out that if you rinse your pads once you are finished, I've never had any issues with getting the SSR line out of the pads.

I had the same problems with the SSR's they seem to really cake into my pads. I had to wash mine several times with dawn and then put it on the pc at 6 to get it to become fully dry.

I have found that 2.5 stains my pad something fierce, but Snappy Clean has always pulled through as far as getting the product out. I think a 3 pack costs a couple dollars and is available at most of our sponsors shops.

First if your pads are loading up that much, you are using too much product.
I also soak my pads in the sink or a bucket with some APC, then press out the ssr's against the bottom and then rinse...besides SSR1, none of my pads seem to stain:dunno

Remember each pad mfg. uses different types of foam and some may have tighter or looser cells which would hold more or less product:)

SSR1 stained my pad, but thats it. I use the blue dawn, hot water and rinse what i can off with just water, then dump a good amount of dawn on the pad and work it with my hands for a few minutes and repeat till all pb's are gone from pad.

Bingo......

Seems like anything that's pink (like SSR1) or red (like FMJ) will stain a white pad but it causes no harm .... just annoying.

It's the SSR 1 that is staining, and its stuck in my green Propel Pad (that I got from Patrick). I can get the SSR 2.5 out of the yellow, orange, and green pads no problem, just can't seem to get the SSR1 out of this green one. I wash them by soaking in dawn and trying to squeeze the product out, but doesnt seem to work this time.

PS, what is the "correct" amount of SSR1 or 2.5 to use for a 2x2 section? I usually do a thin line around the pad to prime it, after that just kind of zig-zag the product on really lightly. Use maybe an eighth of a teaspoon for each section. Still too much? Thanks

Sounds like you are using the right amount of product....just because the pad is stained, does not mean it is not clean....if you are not seeing product come out when washing, then it's clean:)

Thats what I experienced. The SSR 1 stained my white pad pink, but its for all intents and purposes "clean".

Same here. SSR1 wont come out, but SSR2.5 comes out with minimal effort.

I just let the pads sit in really hot water mixed with Dawn for about 30 minutes, then squeeze the suds into the pad, run under cold water to remove all soap, and let air dry. SSR1 pads are still stained, but the water/soap coming out of them was clean, so its fine.

Found another use for my large WW - wrap the pads in it and squeeze down on the pads. Soaks up most of the water in the pad, you could almost pads immediately after drying this way.
