SPots on car won't come off

I started to detail my gf's car and noticed there was a bunch of small spots on the car. I tried clay, 3m adhesive remover, turtle wax bug and tar remover, all to no avail. with the clay however the top of the spots would break off but leave behind a visible residue. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to remove these spots.

If the clay is getting some of it off, that's a good sign. Perhaps spraying one of those solvents on them again, letting it dwell for a longer time, and then claying with the solvent as the lube might do the trick. The theory is the spots would be breaking down from both chemical and abrasive action. It's hard to tell since we're not sure exactly what the spots are ( tar-what type? fallout?, etc.) so this is only a suggestion. YMMV. You might have to use some polish as a final follow up to get all of it off and/or remove any marring that could've possibly been made from it. HTH.

The clay breaks the top off. What's left doesn't budge. I believe it is tree sap of some kind. My fault for buying a car a night.

A polish or swirl remover is what I would use. By hand use a good foam applicator and rub in back and forth ( not circles ) motions.

As mentioned, the fact that clay got some off convinces me the rest can be removed as well.

Keep at it!
