Spot Pads for a PC7

I have the Lake County 7.5" advance pads but I have a Black car and while the did an OK job, they didn't really remove the swirls and light scratches like I thought a PC should do. I would like to get a set of 4" spot pads, maybe an orange, yellow, and white pad. (I know some manufactures have different colors). Which pads are good to use? I may just do the whole car with the spot pads and save the 7.5" pads for when the car has less markings. Plus I have some Holograms that I need to remove on my rear bumper. Thanks.
 
What are you using for polish ? Perhaps trying something with a little more cut to it may help . What color LC pads are you using ?

I am using the orange and white pads from the kit. I used the Menzerna Intensive and the FPII.
 
IMO all the 4" pads are gonna work OK. I usually just use the Cyclo ones, which are about as unpopular here as any brand. Get the small backing plate and any 4" pads from a reputable maker and you'll be fine.
 
your polish selection is fine. Switching to a 4" pad should solve your problem. Just be sure to work the area long enough (polishes need time to break down), move the PC slowly enough (polishes dont have enough time to work when your moving 6" a second), and use the correct amount of polish on the pad (too much and the abrasives will float on the oils in the polish rather than remove defects).

Thanks. The 4" pads from properautocare only start at 2000 grit type scratches. The ones from autopia start at 1200 grit type scratches. I think I would need something maybe in the middle, any suggestion?
 
Any heavy cut 4" pad should be able to remove mostly anything you want it to with the proper polish selection. i wouldn't really look at what the descriptions say anyways. 90% of defect removal comes from the polish anyways. I mean really, your not going to remove bad swirling from audi paint with SSR1 on a 4" yellow pad... Propel and Lake Country both make really nice 4" pads. I use LC that I got from pakshak. Propels can be bought at excel detail. AKA Patrick on here is the owner of the shop, shoot him a PM and see what he can do for you.
