Spicy Cayenne

Well, I just finished my MBA program and I have no job. So, I was pretty bored. To fill the time, I decided to detail my dad's Cayenne. I think the car is about 2 years old.

I don't have any before pictures, but the car looked pretty well kept. There were very few swirls in the paint as the car has never been through a car wash with brushes. However, once I got started I realized looks can be deceiving. I spent quite a bit of time on several areas of the car. Claying for instance took quite a bit of time as I was constantly remolding the clay as it was picking up so much dirt. I also spent quite a bit of time on the interior as the carpets had some pretty nasty stains in them. I spent twenty minutes cleaning the steering wheel alone. It had quite a bit of dirt and oil embedded in the grains of the leather. It was so bad that the leather actually looked lacquered. I think this steering wheel picks up so much dirt, because it's heated. FYI on the day I did the exterior it was 42* out and the next day when I did the interior it was 19* out. Anyway . . .

Wash w/ Zymol Clear

Wheels cleaned with Megs Wheel Brightener

Clay

Polish w/ Menzerna FPII and white LC pad

Seal w/ Menzerna FMJ

Polish metal trim w/ Megs NXT Metal Polish

Treat plastic trim w/ PB's Trim Restorer (FYI this stuff is great)

Glass cleaned w/ Invisible Glass

Great job!!

Looks like we're in the same boat...I too just finished my MBA and have no "real" job. Hopefully the detailing can tide me over :)

Yes, the job market is not exactly heating up right now and neither is the weather. So, I don't think I'll be doing much detailing either. Plus I'm a REALLY slow detailer. So, I don't like to do it for money anyway. I end up spending so much time that it's almost not worth it.

Well I am trying to get to the point of graduation! But I am jealous of your what looks like heated garage. My black car was umm white today.. I couldnt stand it and had to take it to a laser wash. My garage at my house is unfortuntely not heated and since its about 19* out now I my car will remain a mess until spring. :closed: .. I am new to this intensive care of cars, but I love my car and I enjoy washing and waxing it. I just need to get some of the right tools at some point and really try to do it. I really want to get some AIO on my car some point but I need to order some first. I only have umm dare i say some zymol cleaner and nano wax topped with mothers pure carnuba. WHAT A NEWBIE I AM . Un-clayed and all

Wow! I'm very impressed that you spotted the heater in that picture. The heater was installed by the previous owner of the home. My parent's haven't turned it on since the first month they owned the house almost 10 years ago since it's electric and runs up the electricity bill like crazy.

very nice job.. nice s2k in the background too

That's my car. It was recently QEW'ed, got a fresh layer of RagTopp, and then got a coat of OCW. Hopefully, this will help it get through the next few months. It isn't driven much during the winter so maybe. This was my first experience with OCW and I liked it, but it seemed a little more effort was required to buff it out than I expected.

I started reading the first post "Well, I just finished my MBA program and I have no job. So, I was pretty bored. To fill the time, I decided...". At this point I thought you were going to say "...to go to the local Porsche dealer and pick something up!".

I was also thinking "how is he going to get a Porsche with no job?". :nixweiss

I'm glad I kept reading.

Maybe if I ever get a job I'll be able to afford my own Porsche, but not at the moment.
