Speedy Prep Towel???

Has anyone been following the lastest craze in clay bar replacement with the Speedy Prep Towel or the Nano Skin towel. Looks pretty interesting but I heard marring can be an issue.

I wonder if these will ever be carried in the Autopia Store.

Nanoskin also has the AutoSCrub that works on a D/A as a clay alternative.

I have this towel and recently used it on my Ford truck for its first test. The truck is white and what i consider to be hard paint. After a quick break-in period it seemed to do just fine with no obvious marring. I continued with a compound and a application of opti-coat (my first time ) with the assistance of Tom Weed. I was extremely pleased with the outcome. I will do some more testing this weekend on a Mercury Mountaineer. I would be cautious with using this towel for say on a car with very soft paint. With that said , I've been told a fine grade towel and pad is in the beta test stages and should be available soon.
 
I use the Speedy Towel now and have completely replaced my clay. I have only used the Glide lube with it so I don't know if any other clay lube would work. It is pricey at 50 bucks but for well over 100 uses its makes sense for me. I like it and if you drop it, just hose it off. Dropped clay is trash and wasted.

I did try the PC based system but found that it waaay too much marring behind for my taste. It worked like a charm but added more work to my process.
 
I've been using the SSPT for about a month now and it's really a great product, though as Paul mentioned above, it definitely can cause marring on softer paints. I'd almost compare it to 4000-grit wet sanding in those instances. My understanding is that a fine grade towel will be available about a month from now as well, which should help lessen the sanding/scouring effect.

Yes, lubricants other than Glide do work with the towel just fine in my experience.
 
I dont have the towel because Im using the equivilent magna sponge (not a towel, but same material)and bought 6 of them so im set for a year probably!:D

My only complaint on the sponge is it marrs softer paint like Toyota,Porches ect........

Im waiting to buy the finer grade towel and was told it would come out by mid May!

I hate using the old claybar system now , times are changing for the better !:bigups

Sell your sponge collection and pick up the finer grade towel when its released. If your not happy with it I'll buy it back from ya. :D

I think I will jerry rig my own MF towel and glue the magna sponges on it.:rockon
I really am thinking about cutting the sponge part off to make it more flexible!

Im def getting the finer grade towel ASAP!

I would like to see AF store carry these!:inspector:
 
Pat, I have been watching this "new" speedy prep towel as well as the nanoskin product. Having just used the Ultima clay block with less than stellar performance I am not sure I will be trying these. The Ultima block marred the "crud" out of my car. I have pics and an upcoming review. If they are truly coming out with a fine grade version of the towel I may be willing to give it a shot after some positive reviews.

The nanoskin worries me because you use it on a DA. How large are the contaminates and how "thick" is the lubricant? Being on DA I would worry that a you would pull of contamination and drag it all across the panel as you go. Obviously there are some out their using it with great success but as for now I will stay with what I know works.
