Speed Settings on Makita PV7001C

I have a Makita PV7001C vertical polisher that I've been using but I'm a bit confused about the actual speed settings. It has a dual stage speed system, where stage one is a fixed 600rpm and stage 2 is adjustable via a dial with numbers 1-5. However, the owner's manual has conflicting info. First, it says it's adjustable from 600-1200 rpm. But then the included chart which shows how the numbers correspond to rpm looks like this:



1=600rpm

2=800rpm

3=1300rpm

4=1800rpm

5=2000rpm



So I don't know what to think. I'm going to call Makita next week to find out but I'm wondering if anyone here can provide some insight.
 
I didn't think so but I thought there might be somebody. I guess I'll just wait and see what Makita has to say.
