Souveran - The New Z71 Tahoe

Well, it is official. The black '99 4Runner has been retired. And in its place has come the black '05 Z71 Tahoe  . It has all the bells and whistles...navigation, DVD, sunroof, dual climate, 2nd row buckets, 3rd row seating, etc., etc. It has been an extreme pleasure so far.

It's been a very hectic week, and my girlfriend left for Dallas for two weeks in it today, so I did a quick clean-up on it before she left.

As of now, the only mod is tint.

Process:

Simple Green 8:1 on wheels/tires/wells/trim

NXT wash

AIO by hand on front end

Pinnacle Souveran

Zaino Z16 on tires

Before tint and clean-up

After tint and clean-up (150 mile road trip before these pictures were taken)

Mods planned...brushed billet Bowtie for the front, cold air intake (gas mileage help), and JL stealth box setup.

Lookin' good....you should try spit-shining the Souveran.

I did it to half of my car, with a fresh coat of P21S on the other half (not spit-shined), and it's noticeably more durable. Normally P21S and Souveran seem to have about the same durability in my experiences.

Thanks guys!

The tint is 20% on the front windows and 20% layered over the rear factory tinted glass, which works out to about 8%.

Very nice vehicle.....I have a client who just bought a white one....He wants it zaino'd. I have it scheduled for next Monday. I hope it comes out as well as yours:up

Looks great! Congrats on all the bells and whistles, I'm sure the car is a whole lot of fun!

Random question, but is light filtration on the tint layering strictly additional or logarithmic like sound or something else? Dunno why I'm asking, but never thought about light filtering in this context...

Looks great! My wife has the same thing, minus the Navigation. It's a really great truck, but the black paint can drive you insane! The areas just beneath the side windows (on the curve), and the bottom rocker/door area seen to be scratch/marring magnets!

A word of advice..... When it's time to polish try out a few polish/pad combinations under a halogen to inspect for the light marring, etc.. because this paint does not like brands of polish. I've had the best luck with Menzerna (PG, FPII/PO85RD) & Optimum. I like the Poorboys line too, but not on my black Tahoe. For some reason, it creates a lot of micromarring, which is a total PITA to remove. I've also tried 3M, and Meguires, and had the micromarring problems too.

mgm121499 - thanks for the heads up on the polishing! We are going to work hard to keep it defect free, but when the time comes for polishing, it will most likely be Menzerna. I do need to try some Optimum.

I believe that would be 4%. Just multiply the percentages to get the tint. 20% = .2 .2 x .2 = .04
