Sorry to be posting this same car again, please excuse my enthusiasm but it's no longer a work in process. I finished up the polishing today then washed and put another coat of souveran on her. It wasn't much polishing work, just a few spots that had holograms. I used the so called German pads from properautocare.com, green, are they really german? I only ask because they now sell the same pad not labeled German. Anyway, tell me what you think! I know the rubber looks crappy, i had to leave after the photos.

Process;

SS&S wash & foam pre soak

FA dry, wipe down rest with WW

PO85RD 7.5" CCS green (german polishing) @ 1500 in a few spots

Souveran

Lookin good there, black is definitely a tough one! On the rims you used the prime: carnauba which is great looking but feel your rims after a drive to see how hot they are, carnauba melts off rims due to high temperatures. Remember, carnauba melts at approx 180 degrees.

That menzerna is some great stuff isn't it? I certainly love mine and it looks great on your car as well. Just try to clean the tires more before you put your dressing on so they do not have that brown look, scrub away lol! And if you really want your wheels to pop, clean the backs as well, really adds a nice touch.

If that were true, then carnaubas would melt under the sun, and Collinite wouldn't work well on wheels.

Lighter fluid will not hurt your paint but it will remove any wax/sealant that on the vehicle. The problem with "lighter fluid" is its volatility. It will "flash" long before you remove any well attached bugs. If you must use a organic solvent, try WD40, gasoline in a well vented no flame area or kerosene. You must wax after using any of these products.

Is there enough carnauba in AJ Prime w/carnauba for that to be a problem? Truth be told I grabbed the wrong bottle of AJ but didn't think it would be a problem. I guess we'll see. I'm a real whimp when it comes to repeatedly cleaning the inside of those rims with a caustic cleaner such as P21s or PB's S&R. The rotora BBK's pads (hawk i believe) dust like crazy, everytime after i wash it creates that rust layer on the rotors so when I first drive it the dusting is crazy. hard to keep up with. usually I just wash the rims with the PB's SS&S inside and out (or ONR) and leave it at that. Plus it's real hard to get at the inside of the rims with the BBK on it.

The car looks totally luscious! Beautiful work! :cooleek: :cool:

Menzerna + Souveran is the hands down perfect combination for black.

I can't speak for the AJ carnauba since I haven't used it. But what I do know is that you should definitely get some protection on there. It will greatly help with the cleaning of the wheels and by doing this you won't need any wheel cleaner anymore. Try out the carnauba, and if you see that the brake dust is still hard to get off, then it probably means that it's not great for use on the wheels.

After a hot day of driving sunday afternoon then a rain (damn rain), the Prime w/carnauba seems to be holding up pretty well. No fogging or streaking and the rims almost washed clean after the rain, so far so good. I am going to take the rims off the car this weekend to do a complete clean and seal (did it last year but now it has worn off). I can't do an autopian job with the rims on the car.
