Souveran on Silver? Pretty Flakey!

Yep, I decided to make use of the Pinnacle Souveran jars I have been hoarding. I put a thin layer on the ES and I am quite impressed. Unfortunately the weather here in Atlanta is very cloudy so I don't have a great pic:

The thing I noticed is that it is very wet looking like Nattys on my car. It really brings out the flake however.

I like the look as well as P21S so far but I am still waiting on more sunlight and some durability testing before I draw any serious conclusions. It really buffs out easy also, but not quite as easy as P21S.

It may slightly darken the paint but just a hair versus P21S. The flake is really popping.

I will try to get some better photos later today after work. :)

Have you tried the Signature wax to see if there was any difference? I know Signature is supposedly made for light metallics like your ES.

Yes, I tried the Signature but it was just okay.

It's really hard to show how wet the paint is given the clouds and limits of my Fuji 2mp camera, but here are some more:

The "S" looks great on lights and metallics as well, I agree.

The flake jumps out at you but it still allows for a light car to have color depth. Kind of hard to believe ;).

I too like Souveran on light colors. It was/is my wife's fave on Audi silver and I preferred it over Paste Glaze on '87 VW white.

Lee,

I do not want to steal your thread but since our cars are similar in color and I also used Souveran this weekend:

I only posted those to show what Souveran does to a light metallic paint. Spit shine method and there is a noticeable difference with Souveran being over the combo in my signature (Paste Glaz mutes the metallic a bit, whereas Souveran highlights it).

I agree. Souveran looks good on light metallic paints. Although i still prefer it on dark paints like red, black, etc... without metal flakes. My favorite product on metallic paint would still be the Signature.

Thanks Greg for sharing the photos. I need to invest in a Lumix! Your pics do a much better job showing the flake popping. I'm still waiting for the skies to clear up. Sun's been behind clouds much of today.

The sun came out for a few minutes and I noticed the following:

1. Really wet looking like Souveran on black.

2. Curved body panels look great.

3. An ever so slight darkening in some ways but also with more depth and tons of flake.

I'll add some Crystal Mist at some point. :)

It has been months since I used Signature on my car but one of the greatest advantages Souveran has is its slickness. It is even slicker than Paste Glaz. I also do not think Signature was as wet but it certainly looked nice. Pinnacle products are expensive, no doubt, but I am continously amazed by the quality.

Lee,

LOL, I think you sent some clouds to the coast. It was sunny up until a couple of hours ago. So much for taking additional pictures!

I have never used Crystal Mist and I have had a bottle of it sitting in my cabinet since before Christmas. Think it will reduce the slickness of Souveran or maintain it?

I think Mist will definitely help maintain it. It certainly has done that on my two regular BMW friends.

One more point about Signature is that often it appears really inexpensive versus Souveran but it comes in a smaller container. It may be slightly cheaper on a per ounce basis, but my feeling is go all the way and get the wetter looking Souveran.

Curvey panels + Souveran = teh win!

I think waxes with great depth look best on more rounded vehicles, it almost looks like the paint is flowing over the body of the car.

Funny I was thinking about this earlier...the ES has some really curvy fender and rear quarter panels. Souveran just looks deep and wet.

Very nice! That Lexus silver metallic is very nice and I bet it looks ten times better "in person". Great silver metallic snap is hard to appreciate from mere pictures.

After searching the forum, I hear more accolades for Souveran on metallic silver colors than I do for Signature Series.

I may have to give it a try. I am currently using the Klasse twins and #16 but I want something that gives the car a deeper, wetter look and will bring out the metallic paint better for the Spring and Summer months.

Lee & Greg, you have entirely too much time on your hands!

Both cars really do have the flake popping right out at you!
