I need to get some touch up paint for both of our vehicles (both Fords). Where have you guys found to be the best place to get matching paint? Dealer? Online? Both have some deeper defects to fix, so I think Dr. Colorchip is out.

IME the match varies with each color/vendor. I`ve had both good/no-so results, but mostly at least OK, from:

-Paintscratch dot com
-AutomotiveTouchUp dot com
-DrColorchips
-dealership touchup paint

I used multiple applications of DrColorchips to fill in some *deep* gouges in the bumpercover of the previous Crown Vic (Performance White). Turned out surprisingly well, though I have no idea how it held up having sold the car.

I have a paint supply place pretty close that will mix up an aerosol can of the primary PPG lines (or gallons if need be). They have color chips with all of PPGs known variants. I can bring the car on a sunny day and check the cards to find the closest match. There is the potential for a slight variation in mixing a small amount; even being a drop off or have not quite the right pearl/metallic can shift the color a bit.

I`m sure you can find such a place or a jobber that can mix for you. The other bonus is an aerosol can will not lose any solvent so the one can is good forever. Unlike a paint pen that dries up by the second time you need it.

AND...if you have/know somebody with the hookup, companies like BASF and PPG will custom-mix stuff. Though they don`t do certain oddball ones any more and choices in single stage are now quite limited.
