Sonus DAS pad kit VS. Propel pad kit-- Which is better?

I need to buy pads formy PC but i don't know which pads are better, Sonus DAS Pad kit or prople's pad kit.

Btw , I will be using Megs #83 DACP and #80 speedGaze with the PC.

If you have the time please answer this question also-- Is it wise to use #80 after #83 (DACP followed by a light cut glaze) or is that too much for the paint (may result in damage). the reason i ask is because I have crazy spider webbing everywhere as well as swirls, and I want to restore to a HIGH gloss.

your help is most appreciated. Thanks again.

Both the Sonus and Propel pads are very good choices, and are very similar. I think you get more pads with the Propel kit, but it looks like they are currently on back order.

If you need to follow-up DACP with a lighter polish then #80 is a very good choice. After you get your paint back into shape, and with proper care (wash techniques, etc.), in the future #80 might be all you'll need.

Is Megs #83 about as or equivalent to 3M-PI III RC (05933)?

Is one better than the other? I ask because i can get 3M-PI III RC (05933)/ locally OTC.

BTW, thanx elliot for the heads-up.

Thanx guapsnaman-- very handy chart, awesome.

So in the Chart #80 and 3M-PI III RC (05933) are in the same category. So i'm guessing that theyre equivalent. But please confirm my assumption.

Sorry for the seemingly dumb question.

They are not in the same category. 3M PI III RC Is more abrasive than #80. 3M PI III Machine Glaze is very close to #80.

Wait..Wait,

I'm so dumb.... I typed it wrong--- megs #83 DACP is in the same category as 3M-PI III RC (05933). I incorrectly mentioned the 3M Machine Glaze in comparison to #83, sorry for the mix up.

So, let me clarify my question

Are Megs #83 DACP and 3M-PI III RC (05933) equiavlent products since they are in the same category in the chart??

I would say that #83 and PI III RC are similar in the aggressiveness scale with the PI III RC coming out a *little* bit more aggressive than the #83. It's also easier to work with, and doesn't contain oils so you can see your progress better.

I'd get the Propel kit, more pads. My DAS kit is starting to fall apart on me, but it says it'll do that after 10 uses or so :o

That's odd. I've used mine probably over 20 times and they still look like new. FWIW, the construction of the Propel and DAS pads are *extremely* similar.

The white part that sticks to the backing plate is separating from the foam. The packaging says they hold up for 10 uses, but I'm thinking I might have done some wrong by soaking them for too long before cleaning them.

Ditto. Wonder what's going on? I posted about this in the machine polishing section. I haven't even been able to make them last half that time.  :shocked

I soak mine overnight in Dawn so soaking them *shouldn't* be the cause. Now, handling them roughly can definitely be the cause. When removing them from the backingplate, I usually push the velcro apart instead of just ripping the pad of the backing plate. The foam is very soft and the velcro is very strong so you have to be careful.

I soak mine for a couple hours in Dawn and warm water too (Propel pads). I haven't had any problems with them yet.

I have seen the DAS pad set, and I have the Propel set (except the finishing pads) and I can't tell any difference between the two pad sets. They look exactly the same to me.

Either way, I've been very satisfied with my Propel pads.
