is size the only difference? im not clear as to what the difference is since they both use same backing plate. please help :)

the das ones are slighlty larger and softer, sfx are firmer and probably better suited to defect removal

they come with differant backing plates iirc

either of them are fine to use, i have both

Steveo, you don't mean different backing plates, you mean they have different velcro backing. Dumbblonde, I believe the SFX pads probably have a more durable velcro than the DAS pads.

yes i did mean differant backing plates, the das comes with a 5" and the sfx a 6"

the das kit mean the back plate is far away form the edge of the pad, so if a newbie bashes the pad into something theres less chance of damage

Oh, sorry, when people talk about "different" backing plates, I presume they are talking about style, rather than size. I should have looked at ACC before I opened my mouth. :bolt

EDIT: Of course, a 6" BP can be used with the DAS pad, it just won't sit in the recess (although I don't think I have ever used one that way myself).

I use both and prefer the SFX...but having said that, it needs some experience to 'understand' the pads' quirks compared to the DAS pads.

Here's an interesting comparison from one who sells it: http://autopia.org/forum/better-car-care/79155-sonus-das-vs-sfx-foam-pads.html

Also, I will add that the different foams used work best with different polishes - DAS works best with petroleum-based polishes and the SFX pads work best with water-based polishes. Which polish are you intending to use?

I dont like the DAS, the pads are to big, they bog down the PC WAY to easily.

What i dont understand about the SFX pads and BP is the BP must come right to the edge of the pad, wont that destroy the pad?
