Sonus Clay ... Any Good ?

I'am about to stock up($200+) on clay and Sonus seems to be competitivily priced with all their offer and such.

Is their SFX and Block clays any good ? Should I just go with their Block instead of the ultrafine SFX for annual claying ?

It's a great clay for sure. I haven't used the ultra fine, but from what I have read, it is more for spot claying areas. For annual claying, it seems to me the block would be the right choice.

Just a quick note: I changed the Sonus BLOCK Clay formula about 3 months ago to give it more cleaning power. I did this because there wasn't enough difference between the SFX Ultra-Fine and BLOCK. So, the new BLOCK has a lot more cleaning power and will easily remove overspray and heavy oxidation, where SFX Ultra-Fine will not. If you're going to use BLOCK, use it for the heavy lifting only. SFX Ultra-Fine is for normal maintenance.

Thanks!

I recently purchased about 6 blocks of the gray sonus clay since my customers' cars are usually heavily contaminated (Houston has horrible air quality). It removed overspray and contaminents really well, and you can't get clay any cheaper than on here. Use the ultra-fine for daily use or lightly contaminated paint.

Definitely 2 thumbs up for me.

What David B. said (gee, he oughta know ;) ). The green ultra fine is *so* gentle that IMO it's strictly for cleaning contamination off your LSP. Anything serious is gonna take the gray version, but the green ultra fine is what I reach for at *every* wash.

I've used several clays over the years in my business. I've been happy with all. I prefer a softer clay as my primary use is on weekly and biweekly customer cars. I clay panels here and there as needed. I have some of the sonus block grey clay but haven't used it. I got it when I ordered the ultra fine green stuff. I liked it enough that within a few days I ordered 16 3oz bars from Danase. I definately am using it for mild clay work. I do think it would work fine in almost any situation but may take longer. I have a little medium clay left still for when I need something more.

The Sonus green clay is great for dealing with light issues while not compromising your LSP. For anyone who really takes care of their ride, it's a must-have.

I have never tried the gray, but hmmmm, maybe it's time.

How would it compare to Clay Magic clay, Autopians?

The gray clay is more aggressive than Clay Magic, but it feels about the same texture-wise. If you're working on cars that have never met clay and is heavily contaminated, then gray clay is the way to go. Saves a lot of time.

Keep that medium on hand ;) In my experience the green really does *not* do what the more aggressive clays will do only slower. It just doesn't have the cut to get some serious contamination off, you could do it for a long, long time and still have to get out a more aggressive clay (gee, ask how I know :o ). It's like the milder clay breaks down or something before it gets the job done..sometimes you just need a bigger hammer (sorry, bad analogy).
