Sonax FE

Is Sonax Full Effect wheel cleaner really worth it or is it all just the hype? I have both Griot's wheel cleaners and they work awesome. I also have Brown Royal and it cleans amazingly too. I want to try AG Custom Wheel Cleaner or Sonax FE, but I can't put out the money for the Sonax without knowing that it is really that much better than the others. Thanks for the input in advance.

I'm using Sonax currently. I got it on VIP special from AG and it's a great wheel cleaner. If you have something you like already and it does a good job for you than stick with it. If you aren't happy with results or there are things you don't care for then it may be worth looking for something else. I like everything about Sonax so far with exception of the smell but the job it does makes it worth it

I have used Sonax a few times. IMO it is an ok wheel cleaner with a cool color change property. I realize this is due to the reaction with iron deposits, which is the main reason I got a bottle to try out. I have yet to run into a set of wheels it couldn't clean. But on well maintained wheels something like Sonax, P21S, and even most of the Griot's line is overkill IMO. On my cars I usually use standard car wash soap. I have found the Sonax to do very little in the color change department since I try and keep the wheels well maintained. Another note if you are using ceramic brakes then a product like the Sonax is not necessary as it is made to react with the iron of normal brakes. So if you already have a few that you like and work well for you then I would save your money and stick with what you've got.

Another option would be using something like CarPro IronX or Wolf's Brake Duster Deironizer Gel. Bot of these will work much the same as the Sonax. I have seen testing done where someone used Griot's (new color changer) and Sonax and then followed it up with IronX to see how well each did. On both option the IronX "found more iron deposits after cleaning with the other wheel cleaners. Just food for thought.

My experience is that Sonax FE is an outstanding wheel cleaner. You have to approach the wheels a little differently then you might with other cleaners. Spary on to the wheel and let it is sit, don't pre-rinse the wheels, and don't agitate immediately upon applying. Let it sit for as long as possible, then agitate it over any areas you may not have been able to spray it on to such as behind the spokes. Rinse clean.

After using it on the wife's car rims yesterday, I found it work great in the cleaning department, but the smell is a little problem for me due to my asthma, but got thru with it. The first mistake I done was rinse a rim first ( no-no ), ther theb rest I just spray on and let it sit for about 30 mins and use my rim MF's and brushes and was very impress in the cleaning power it has. Looks like I'll be using Sonax, P21 and Brown Royal for my rim cleaning.
