do any of you guys use this? i found a can in my closet and i really like it. it leaves the tire really black but not overly glossy. plus it's only $2.50 a can at dollar general so i can use it on my tread while at car shows also.

Hello...I have to admit that I am a fan of Son of a Gun and Formula 2001 tire protectant. They both leave a very nice finish that seems to stay around a while on the tires. I am just a novice detailer but know what I like...lol! Take care...

im a fan of formula 2001 too!

i know it's not the best but i only do it while at car shows and i always drive around the show to wear it off before hitting the roads.

do u know if it was an is350 or an is250... the is350 has lots of power and on top of that its rear wheel drive. those things combined with the traction control off and armoralling the tires would of most definately cause that crash.

the is250 is all wheel drive and would of probably handled itself a bit better. but with a dumb$hit driver like that, who knows.

It was posted in 2002. It was a RWD (they all are) IS300. You'd think the AA wouldn't last that long on the tread but I guess it did.

I think it was a combination of AA on the tread, TC was off, and it was raining. I do not know this guy so I can only guess. IMO it's just a really bad idea to put a slippery substance on the area of your car most responsible for traction. You're just asking for trouble if you do. I imagine it would wear off the tread after awhile, but I personally couldn't say how long that would take. I just don't think the risk is worth it. I would just QD the tread.

i never thought of using a quick detailer on the tread. i'll have to try that. after reading that post i'm not going to use it on my tread anymore.

I use it, and it's cousin products from the other companies, for dressing the wheel wells occasionally. It seems to help keep mud and such from sticking to the wells and undercarriage. I also use it on my ATV after a cleaning for the same purposes.
