Something You DIDN"T Know about MicroFiber

"Never use polyester or microfiber cloths to clean your RV.  Even though they may seem soft, polyester is essentially created from plastic.  Polyester fibers are tougher than cotton and can eventually marr your finish and rub the sealant off your vehicle."

I just thought this was hilarious.

Hope you all get a good laugh from this.

Yes, this was a real article, and this is really their opinion!

I just get a kick from "rub off the sealant"

wwww-willywallywashwax- Heh heh, yeah....that's like the argument that you shouldn't use sheepskin/"wool" wash mitts because wool pads on rotaries leave buffermarks

The famous Junkman has said to run your hand down a microfiber towel, if it sticks to your hand it's an inferior grade of microfiber.

Maybe they should use something natural like a chamois instead?

Folks should recognize that intuition and perception is not necessarily accurate.

90% or more of swirls and scratches are self induced using inferior, or dirty media and that includes MF towels. I totally agree with the junkman on this one and recommend watching his latest video on MF towels.

I don't really bite on the inferior mf kick.

I range good care of mine, and haven't

induced visible marring yet.

Worst ones for tires and dirty stuff.

Next is pretty polish towels, wash and interior.

My finish towels, I am picky of them.

Mainly, this article is to show that some

"experts " will tell you bad things ; I. E.

Don't use mf, lol.

We will have to agree to disagree. To me that feeling he describes is what makes the mf do its job. Hell what do I know since I don't make videos.   :-)

I know that new Sam's Club towels have this

grabby feeling against skin. I also know that

I have done many black cars, with those

towels, with no visible marring added. YEMV.

wwww-willywallywashwax- Well, I don't have any real, objective evidence that they're better, but they *seem* like they oughta and that's enough for me to justify my prefernce until/unless something proves that they're somehow *worse*.

Wouldn't they be superior for removing

polishes and waxes?

Not according to a poster on multiple other forums pushing the rag company. Sorry but it galls me to see someone that preaches this on car forums but stays clear of detailing forums . Sorry but end of rant before I go postal.

Eh, there's all sorts of bogus info out there concerning MFs, some of it from sources many might consider credible.  Heh heh, a few of those sources are folks I've done business with for decades!

E.g.,- "Plush MFs will pull the wax/sealant/LSP off the paint, resulting in poor results, so you oughta use less-plush/suede-style/etc. MF instead."

Now I *like* suede-style/low-nap MF for buffing off certain LSP residues, both by hand and via Cyclo.  But side-by-side testing with a few LSPs showed *zero* diffs in appearance, durability, or anything else.  No evidence at all that the plush MFs compromised the LSPing.
