Someone stole my ebay pics!

My cousin and I have a little side gig going where we sell stuff on ebay. (not detailing related). Well I was surfing e-bay last night and I see this pic of a die cast truck we sell. I was like, "Wtf is going on, I did not know we had another one left!" So I click the link and notice, it is all of our pictures but not us! Someone stole all of the pics I took and used them for themselves. I e-mailed them and told them to get rid of them and then saw they changed their names 20 times, which usually means they get bad feedback and switch their names to start fresh again. So once I saw that I reported them to e-bay. This morning they e-mailed me and appologized and said they can't take them down now but the auction is over in one day and they would appreciate it if I did not report them to ebay. I sort of feel bad for reporting them before giving them the chance to remove them but then again that is sort of like fraud to say "Here are the pics of the trucks we have. " When they are not even theirs!

Oh well, that was my vent of the month. LOL

Maybe you should put "photo property of Bob and Co." on all of the pics. That might help with them not being re-used without your knowledge.

If they change their names multiple times then they obviously do this alot. I would report em if you see them do so in the future.

A watermark might be a good idea actually. :)

Thanks!

I did that one time from a completed auction (it was a picutre of a snoopy watch)..the dude freaked out!! (this was before I had a Digital Camera..) It was nothing fancy just a pic of the watch and he had already sold his. I apologized and told him I should have asked first..he sent me another email about how he spent hours getting the lighting right and picking the best shot (you should have seen it, seriously looked like he just snapped a pic)...oh and he called me the devil too :lol

I never did that again - bought a digital camera that week :lol

I wouldn't mind so much i we had one and sold it but we sell the same truck all the time and it would not look good if two different people had the same pic up at the same time.

I would report it. I have seen this mentioned on other forums where someone recoginzes a picture of theirs on ebay. It ususally turns out that the seller is trying to scam someone.

Dont worry about it, what theyre doing is an old ebay trick a criminal mind can see right through. I used to not detail cars by the way... Your items are being sold by other sellers. You are still selling your products, but somebody is getting a cut that shouldnt. Dont tolerate it. E-bay is pretty good at securing theyre website. Somebody tried to access my account once. E-bay was quick to prevent finantial damage to me. I would notify e-bay and let them handle it before I contacted the person commiting the crime, and it is a criminal act. I love e-bay ALMOST as much as DC :dj :angel

You think that is bad? A couple of years ago I had pictures of one of our cars on the internet and I found an ebay listing for a similar SUV using my pictures. The SUV being sold wasn't even the same color!

Nobody was getting a cut of anything. They just stole our pictures to use to sell their items. They could not of been getting a cut of what we are selling anyway since we are not selling anything at the moment. ;)

Like someone suggested earlier , a watermark directly over the item in the picture is your best way of defending against this .
