Someone reversed into me...

So I was at the mall and I just parked. Next thing you know, someone reversing out clips me from behind then they take off. I never got plates or anything. So I'm left with this to deal with now. It doesn't appear to be that bad, but do you guys know what I can do to repair it myself or how much will it cost to get it redone professionally? I'm wondering if it would just be cheaper to buy a new bumper.

Don't mind the snow, lol.

No way would it be cheaper for a new bumper. That is very minor damage. I'd just go get a couple of quotes from some local shops. if you wanted to fix it yourself you could try but you'd want to take to make sure you sand the paint back to where it's not peeling off the bumper.

what a bummer. i would have chased that person. The holiday season can be a little rough at times due to these reasons.

This recently just happened to my girlfriend but she was driving on the road and someone backed into her while reversing out of their driveway.

The people won't even pay for crap!

Your damage doesn't appear to be bad at all. Have it checked out. Maybe someone here or that is local to you that lurks on this forum can help point you in the right direction for a reputable shop who does great work.

My guess would be a few hundred bucks but just get estimates, most places are free.

Well, I looked on my local forum and found a guy selling a bumper for 60 bucks. So if a repair is going to be more than 100 dollars to fix up the little chip. Might as well get a new bumper.

Buy a new bumper? Are you crazy? Maybe you just need a whole new car. This is NOT a case of needing a new bumper.

You do realize that a new bumper will still need to be painted/cleared to match the rest of the car? Bumper resprays run $100 for el cheapo junk to $300 for top quality. You need to find a quality body shop who can fill and sand that damage, then paint the entire bumper, then clear coat it.

The paint on my car is still the original paint. The bumper I found is also the original black so I was hoping it was a close enough match.

I know almost nothing about repairs like this. I was hoping that someone would be able to just repair that area alone. It's just paint that got chipped off.

I'm really not looked forward to a 300 dollar repair for just that, I might as well leave it.
