Some ?'s about Poli Seal

Am thinking of getting some along with my Optimum detailer and OCW and was wondering what pad to use with my PC and what speed... I was thinking a white LC pad at like speed 5 or 6...

Hopefully Todd (TSC17) chimes in since he seems to like to use it as an AIO when needed.

This quote is from one of his recent details.

I was only going for a quick polish to clean the surface and add a layer of protection and gloss, so I didn't take a bunch of before/after photos. For this application, the easy choice with Optimum Poliseal because it's an absolutely tremendous all-in-one...very easy to use, has durable protection, and looks great even on neglected paint. I polished the car with a PC on speed 6 with an orange 5.5 pad.

What kind of car and what color?

Yes it is a tremendous product and it's about as easy to use as you can get.

That's a great description from one of the other many Todd's on this forum.

I use it for an AIO as well, typically with a medium/mild cut polishing pad for very expected result every time.

Orange is a finessing pad correct?

How long would it take to do a car like a pontiac G6? The color is a metallic silver, light color called liquid silver? i have white and black LC pads....

How fast are you with your PC? I can wash and AIO my wifes Aveo with Polyseal in about 40 minutes.

If you're going for a little bit of correction, then I'd use an orange or white pad, speed 6, and work the area for a while.

If you're just trying to quickly clean/polish/protect the paint, there's no real need to "work" the polish...you're just applying it. For just the application part (no wipe down included), I did my Odyssey van in under 30 minutes last week. Add some time for OCW and wipedown.

If you're going for a quick polish, do it on a white pad on speed 5 or 6. Just don't use too much. OPS looks spectacular on silver.

Also,

Use very little and understand that it has a pretty quick work time. If you use too much you'll have gumming issues that are VERY difficult to remove.

How long do i need to work a panel? How much pressure should i use on the pc? I havn't used my pc much but i have used ssr2 2.5 and 1 before with good results.... it's not new to me but not a lot of experience. I hav some swirls and marrinf from washes and Qd's and all that. How much can poli seal take care of?

Also i have mothers fx and 2 coats of opti seal on the car now? will that pose a problem?

Plus will opti seal with a white lc pad finish down lsp ready?

well i just ordered poli seal, ow and the detailer, i think i am becoming an optimum guy :)

one thing though do i need to strip the car to use poli seal because i have a coat of mothers fx and 2 coats of opti seal on the car now.....

What duration of protection can one expect from poli-seal when used as a stand alone product?

Around 3 months in the Dallas area. Hard to say in other areas because we don't really have any acid rain or industrial fallout issues that can affect the life of a wax or sealant.

I get about the same up here in WI, but we don't really have any 110° days or dangerous UV issues that can affect the life of a wax or sealant.

I'm on my 2nd bottle within 1 year's time. I don't detail for a living but I do a few cars here and there. Poli-seal is probably my all time favorite product along with ONR and opti-seal. Optimum has some great products.

when using speed six..would you say that use use about 5lbs of pressure?? if any at all. I tried using some Megs 151 on speed six this past weekend, and it got hot really quick, with minimal pressure.

I'll take 110 and sun rather than cold and snow.

You're gonna see it immediately because Poli-Seal won't leave trace/residue. Pressure is always depending on the defects you have to remove.

You can't compare OPS to the SSRs because it works completely differently. You have to trust OPS it's there because you won't see it (if used correctly). OPS on an orange pad will remove imperfections quite well and it will pull a lot of dirt out of the paint. If you want to fine tune your results, use a finishing/finessing pad for the final burnishing.

Opti-Seal is a hand applied product, and although it can be applied with a machine, it's strictly an LSP, so "finishing down" is not an issue or aspect here. If you asked about OPS, yes it will finish down LSP ready.
