Just a little background before I tell you the materials I have at my disposal.

I have a dark green 94 Legend and it has some swirls on it. I usually just use Meguirs #9 Swirl Remover, #7 Glaze, and top it off with High-Tech Yellow Wax Paste. And if I'm in the mood, some S100.

I have at the moment..

Magic Clay

DACP

Medium Cut Cleaner #1

Fine Cut Cleaner #2

Swirl Remover #9

Show Car Glaze #7

High-Tech Yellow wax paste

S100

Could you tell me what and in what order I should use these products. I'm mostly just confused with the medium cut, fine cut, DACP products since I'm new to them.

Thanks!

wow you have a lot of stuff for prep, but i wouldn't use all of those for polishing. Way too many abrasives. To start off, how bad is the finish neglected?

Its not "that" bad, but my regular surface swirls are starting to show (last detail was about 3 months ago). They usually dissappear after I do my normal routine of #9, #7, and High-Tech. But I decided I would give DACP a try and ended up buying fine and medium cut as well. (Impulse buyer) :o

I just used DACP and on fender panel after claying it and all my surface swirls are GONE, so should I skip right to #7 Glaze or use #9 and then proceed to #7?

use #9 only if you have haziness, otherwise go straight to #7. And don't worry, its well worth it for detailing so your car is protected for rain and bad weather.

I've been using #9 after DACP and then #7 while waiting on a reponse and it seems like the #9 helps take away some of the minor scratches that the DACP leaves/causes behind. The DACP is taking care of the swirls but its also leaving some hatch type etches which are then taken away with the #9. That's my experience anyway.:nixweiss

did you apply the DACP with a PC or by hand? I'm thinking of getting some but don't want the job to take all day by hand since I am without a PC.

The thing is with DACP and #1 is that you have to fully work them in or you will get marring.

If you are doing all this by hand I suppose that is why DACP is leaving those marks.

I would strongly suggest buying a PC if that is at all feasable.

Other than that, the DACP-#9-#7 rout sounds good.

Hope it comes out nice!

Ok, well I was doing it all by hand and I am JUST NOW finally finished! Thank god! My wrist is about to fall off. The results are fantastic. Now I need to actually eat some food and take a shower since I didn't stop to eat all day.:xyxthumbs

People were coming by left and right to look at my car while I was working on it through out the day like it was some kind of car show. :p

Got your PM on OT-I work all day, so don't expect a fast response from me!

Anyway, I almost always follow DACP with Swirl Free (BSP equivalent to #9) because it further polishes the paint and...well....because I like how incredible Swirl Free looks. It adds additional 'richness' to the paint that I find very appealing.

Don't worry, some people get hazing with DACP, some do not. It's more noticable on dark coloured cars anyway. DACP, which is a "stronger" product may leave some hazing as many products stronger than #9 do, so if you get this don't sweat it at all and just follow it up with #9 as you did. :up

How about some pics? :D I've always liked those Legends.

Could someone please follow up to what order/situation I would use the other 2 products in. (Fine Cut Cleaner/Medium Cut Cleaner)

Fine Cut/Medium Cut are used for more problematic finish issues such as severe swirls, acid rain, wetsanding marks etc. It's the old standard paint cleaners in the line. DACP falls into the newer line of cleaners called Hi-Tech cleaners.

You're doing fine with the DACP. As eveyone points out, you should step down in polishes, just as you would sanding wood. The finer the polish, the smoother and shiny the finish gets! The more mirror looking, the better effect from wax or sealants! Remember, you can wax/seal over anything, but it will not look good without polishing.
