k so i already know the basics of it through researching

but when it comes to covering the car parts

do i cover the timing belt too?? as well as the short ram intake i installed

and the relay and fuse box??????

also for the degreaser is the 303 good????or is that for after u do all the cleaning

i have ammoral protectant i use for interior but can i use that as well?

A lot of people don't cover anything, some cover a lot. I usually cover anything I feel unsafe.

The only things I really cover are the air filter and spark plugs/distributor. The electrical plugs and everything is exposed because it's meant to be when they get wet. Just don't drown them with APC or a high pressure washer really close.

The timing belt is actually not an exposed belt. It is covered by the timing belt cover. The belt that is not covered is called the serpentine belt. Older cars have multiple belts and are named for the parts of the car they drive, i.e alternator belt. I don't think covering the belt is necessary.

Hope it goes well!!

yeah, the serpentine/auxiliary belt is fine.

One thign tho, you should probably let the engine cool completely down first. Wouldn't want all those seals, belts, etc, to be rapidly cooled by water, that can't be good.

I would cover the intake and any exposed battery or electrical terminals. I know that atleast in my car, the fusebox is pretty well sealed (completely sealed plastic box with gaskets on all seams). Also, before starting the egine be sure to blow any water out of the holes where the spark plugs are.

sweet thanks sdat and vtechfan

one last question i have is would i have to disconnect the negative battery cable if i plan to cover it up in tinfoil?????

Totally disagree. You want the engine to be warm but not hot. By being warm it helps to accelerate the degreaser / cleaner of your choice to work.
