Some Q's on my first polishing session

I figure since I've had my PC for about 2 years it's finally time to use it. I polished a test section on my 02 Mustang last night and was very happy with what one pass looked like with Meg's #83 with a Sonus DAS Orange pad. (Lot's of wash marks mainly (bad technique that is now corrected) no real swirls) I have some questions about follow up and pad selection though.



I have the following polishes/sealants..

Meg's #83, Sonus PWC, Z-5, Z-2, KAIO, S100



and the following pads..

Sonus DAS Orange, Green, Blue, Grey and 4" Sonus SFX White and Yellow



Do I have a good polish to follow up the #83 with and what pad should I use with it. If I don't have what is necessary just let me know.



What is the least aggressive pad I can use that I have with #83?



Do I need to follow up the polishing with KAIO before sealing/waxing?

I'm not familiar with the Sonus line of pads. I'm assuming that orange is a cutting pad. Next you want to use another product that is not as aggressive. Meguiars 80 is often recommended for use after 83. You need to use a polishing pad (less aggressive than the cutting pad) for the 80. The 80 will remove any micromarring and prepare your finish for the final waxing.



There's no need to follow up the polishing with KAIO.
 
To follow #83 and the DAS orange, I would go to #80 and the DAS green. At this point, your paint should be LSP ready. If you're having a tough time with any micro-marring left over from the #83/orange combo, then you can move to the DAS green. Just be sure you clean it thoroughly (or better yet, get a second dedicated pad) before going to #80. It's your choice if you'd like to use a paint cleanser like Sonus PWC or KAIO. I personally love KAIO and use it prior to my LSP every time (which is currently 4* UPP). KAIO and S100 make for a pretty good combo, but there's no harm to move straight to the S100. You might consider splitting a panel in half and see which results you like better. It will likely come down to personal preference anyway.

Klasse AIO is your Sealant. Then S100 is the LSP since it's pure carnauba (no cleaning properties). If your finish is satisfactory after the Meg's 83 then go for the S100. AIO would just add that extra longevity since Carnauba wont last more than a few weeks.



Personally I would go for the AIO and then a few coats of the Klasse SG to add more gloss then finish it off with 2 applications of S100. Re-apply S100 every 4-6 weeks and your looking at protection that can last about 6 months before reapplying sealant. Use Wax As U Dry spray wax in between washes to keep the slickness level up.
 
Hold on.. KAIO is certainly not a sealant. It's simply a acrylic cleaner that does a great job preparing the paint surface.
