If you take credit cards be sure to check your monthly statements.

Over the past 8 months I have not checked account and noticed that the processing company has been taking an add'l $10 per month.

I checked my contract with them and they owe me some money.

so be sure to check all your statements from these companies.

It's not unusual for this problem to occur with merchant accounts. You should also periodically review your discount rate and service fees. I see problems with these fees periodically. You may get a small slip of paper with your statement informing you of changing fee structures that they will implement unless you call and protest....Andrew

I'm a small operation. I've decided NOT to accept credit cards. My clients understand... yeah, there is the occasional 'oh, I didn't know', but they have always sent a check within days, 2 weeks max.

I've owned larger ($6mil annual) businesses. I know the CC drill. I'm happier without them, and I think my clients are, too.

I don't take credit cards either. Just too much of a hassle and I may get asked once every couple of months if I take them. I get most of my new customers through referrals (I love not having to advertise!), so they already know I only take cash or check.
