Solara Detail...AIO + the "new" EX-P!

Silver Car Fan
I finally got to detail the Solara again yesterday...it was a great day to be outside!

I washed with Adam's car wash (great suds, slickness wasn't up to Perls), clayed with Poorboy's clay (S&W was lube), applied AIO via PC with a Propel polishing pad & then the "new & improved" EX-P (aka EX-P+) by PC with a Propel finishing pad.

The new EX-P is an improvement on a product that I really liked...now I love it. It is very slick and really brings out the flake. The reflections are outstanding (IMHO) for silver.

There are no before pics...the car wasn't in bad shape before, but it hadn't been fully detailed since Thanksgiving.

Good job. :xyxthumbs

You're a lucky guy living there. If I had tennis courts that close to my house, I doubt I'd be weighing as much as I do know.:doh

I wish I lived someplace like that! Maybe in a few years. That is Lee's (aka SilverLexus) house.

Looks  from here.

Any close-up flake shots :)?

Sean, I'll try to get a closeup of the flake tomorrow. The sun is too far down tonight.

WOW! As a fellow "silver" guy, I think it looks great! Do you have plans to add any more coats to it for a little more depth? If you do, please post the pics! Just make sure you keep me in the loop on this:D

I am running BF*2 + WG right now and I am pretty happy with it, but we will see what happens when I add another coat of WG...

If only I would use them more. There are many folks playing tennis since the weather is so nice. It's cool to hear the bouncing tennis balls while I am detailing the car.

Todd, I'm glad you posted these pics. This car looks even better in person with great flake and a nice liquid look and the Solara is very slick to the touch.

beautiful. i saw the lunar mist on a camry at the recent auto show here in honolulu. i must say that is really nice silver. :)

What pther combos have you used and how would you compare them to the set-up you have now?

I've tried AIO, AIO + Signature, AIO + EX-P & VM + EX-P/EX-P+ on it. I'd like to see what VM + the reformulated EX-P looks like as VM was the best looking base for the old EX-P to me. The new EX-P seems to work better with AIO than the old version.

It is the slickest my car has been and has the best flake & reflections of anything that I have tried.

I hope to add a second coat this weekend and will post pics after that. When I did VM + EX-P there was a noticeable improvement after the second coat; adding the EX-P+ prototype a few weeks later was like putting the icing on the cake.

cool. please, please keep me updated on this... I will post pics of thw WG son. I may even post pics of before and after pics of WG and WG + Souveran! :D

Has the EXP+ been tweaked since the samples were given out a while back? I didnt care for the original EXP and I dont think the + is improved enough to make a difference. Its slicker than the original but only stays that way for a week or two and durability is only marginally better IMO.

Beautiful work!!! :bow All that hard work...then...pollen. :angry

So has EX-P+ completely replaced EX-P (i.e. if you order EX-P you receive EX-P+)??

Thanks for the compliments.

I broke out my Oxo duster today to remove the pollen. It looks like that will be part of my dialy routine for a while.

The + has replaced EX-P although the labeling is the same. If you order from a distributor other than Steve I'd check to make sure you are getting the new stuff. At least one vendor has said they'll ship the original version until it is exhausted.

There is no carnuba. EX is the Poorboy's sealant with carnuba and it has been reformulated too...I haven't tried the new EX though.

The final version is thinner than the sample batches. It seems slicker, but it has been four months since I put that on so it is hard to say for sure.

Where do you get this?

If you are looking for places to buy Poorboy's products you can buy direct from Steve or from Autogeek, Premium Autocare, Pak Shak or Specialty Motoring Products. All are excellent and I know I've left some great vendors out of this list.

To me, Toyota's best silver would be Lunar Mist Metallic. It actually looks like silver. The silver for example on the Sienna made me sick since it would look like silver on a cloudy day while it would look biege on any other day.

I need to look at some houses and GA is one hell of a good place to be and those houses look great and new. Too bad though, I have to stay in the NJ where prices for housing are through the roof.

Anyway, I OTed. Your car looks great (as usual). And I see a lot of Toyota products along the street. Camry is yours (?) White Sequoia, Avalon to your right and a LS400.

NM, I just read that that was SilverLexus's house. :doh

If they happent to be out of Millenium Silver that day. :D ;)

Thanks. We are enjoying this neighborhood. I spent many years renting tiny apartments in NYC for thousands above what my mortgage is on this house.
