Soap to Strip UPP?

OCDinPDX

Paint Ph.D
So I applied a coat of UPP to my car in February to protect it while on my trip. Now I'm finally starting the trek home and am thinking about the good detail my car will need when we get home. She's been bombarded by everything imaginable and unfortunately, hard water spots are EVERYWHERE due to the low water crossing I have to drive through to get to my Uncle's property here in West Texas. This means I'm going to have to strip the UPP, clay, and machine polish the spots out (translation: entire car) and then apply a new coat of UPP for the summer. Ugh...

Now in the past I've used Dawn dishwashing liquid as a wax stripper but wasn't exceedingly satisfied with its ability to strip. Any other products I might use? I know UPP is some tough stuff so I might need to call in reinforcements.

:thanks

I agree with tha 3 of you, Dawn/Clay should eliminate all your UPP.:bigups

I did notice though that you already said you were gonna use Dawn and Clay so thats why I added the AWD. :bigups

If you are going to clay and polish your vehicle, that will take care of any remaining UPP.

I second that. No need to think you gotta get it off in the wash phase.

And an IPA wipedown is a good idea to remove any kind of polishing agents (i.e. oils) after you're done with the polish stage.

Wow...this place is awesome. I just learned something about alcohol wipe down that I never new. Thanks, guys. :thanks :dcrules :bigups

Where are you at now:dunno:I like keepin track of you on your:drive:across America:bigups

:idea Maybe you could take some"picture" while your on your journey and post them when you arrive home.

Another thought....Get some window paint and put DETAILCITY.ORG on tha back glass:bigups You gotta do a Full-Detail anyway:rockon

In El Paso, Texas tonight.

[sarcasm]I was thinking about going over to Juarez for a bit[/sarcasm]

Tomorrow night is Tempe, Arizona, Las Vegas on Saturday, and into L.A. to visit a friend on Sunday. I have already taken many pictures so I will post those as soon as I can.

P.S. Just found out we had a new drain installed in the driveway at home. The concrete has to cure which means no cars on it for two weeks. Which mean my baby will have to spend another WEEK outside. :( I really don't want to have to wait to clean her up. :(
