So, I rubbed one out today...

hehe, I love innuendo.

Anyways, I got the chance to semi-finish my car today. In case, you didn't see my welcome post. It has some before pics and other miscellany.

Here we go. Here's what I used. My right and left arms and hands. A car wash down the road so I could borrow outside running water. KIT Scratch Out. (Yuck, but I'm desparate.) KIT carnauba cleaner wax, and Meg's GC. I used some (supposedly) 100% cotton made in the USA terry towels. Oh, and EagleOne's QD.

I have only done above the trim lines so far, just because I don't have clay or anything to remove tar yet. So, who wants to see the pics? Cool, I was hoping you would want to see them.

I had to turn the car around at this point so I could get my working side out of the direct sun and it would also put the sun at my back to take nicer pics.

I'm actually really surprised at how this came out considering the absolute lack of quality products I had at my disposal. (GC excluded, it's not that bad.) My knees are really, really sore. It was about 38 degrees with a 25 mph wind all darned day as well. At least it helped the wax haze up quickly.

I should have taken pictures of the applicators and towels I used for polishing. They were pink. All that I have left to do to her is give the interior what it deserves, finish under the hood, the windows, and do the bottom 1/3.

Cheers,

Tim

Quality renovation. Wish I could have sent you some boutique products...in any event you have done that car a service.

Based on your pictures, I think you got more than your money's worth out of the products you used! Your car looks 1000% better! :up

Looks really good! I'm with Scottwax. Your success with the over the counter products that you used just emphasizes the fact that the preparation is more important than the product as it relates to the outcome. Man, I need to get some time to work on my rides. :sadpace:

Sigh, I just got out of bed and there's snow on the ground. :wall Because it's SS paint, this weekend I plan on washing and slapping on another coat of GC. After that, I'm going to get the poorboy's kit with the PC. It looks decent, but I think it could look deeper and wetter. I see that the kit comes with SSR1, SSR2.5, Natty's Blue, and S&G. When I place my order, woult it be beneficial for me to get EX or EX-P?

Thanks for your comments and any advice.

Since you have solid red paint, I'd get the EX w/carnauba. Looks real deep and wet on red and black. In addition, it was reformulated last year and seems to be even more durable.

Nice results!

Just to be different, I'd go with EX-P in the kit. You'd have a wider spectum of "looks" to choose from then. If you like the carnauba look, you have the Natty's. The EX-P will give you a different look, so this way you can try some products offering differing appearances to see which you like better.

Either way, you'll likely be happy with the results/ease of use.

My arms are okay. However, my nostrils are pretty windburnt. I have never, ever had my nose hurt like this when I breathe. Oh well, at least the neighbors know that I'm a nutjob now.
