This guys comes up to me with his can of FW1 and starts his pitch about waterless wash. I stop him and tell him I do my own detaiing and use ONR. He tells me my car looks good and asks if I use a clay bar. I tell him I do and he says"you are removing the clearcoat!". What's the deal with these morons? They need to get educated before they start pitching how to take car of auto paint.

good old california is famous for people getting there hustle on at Gas Stations. I use to live in Santa Barbara and last year i took my girlfriend up to LA & SB for the first time and while pumping gas we were approached by a lady selling perfume. It wasn't as bad as the guy you dealt with . . . . my girl liked it so we purchased it but it is funny.

as stated though they should get educated before telling a car detailer something that is false such as "you are removing layers of clear coat" Clay isn't sand paper LoL

Twice its happened to me. Thanks god they werent pushy about it though. The first one asked if I wanted a free demo, I declined. He said my car looks good, what do I use on it. I told him and we both went on our own ways.

Technically the second time didnt really happen. Guy was walking away from some soccer mom, came over to my car. Looked it up and down and walked away. I had just washed my car that day so I was staring him down. All hell would have broke loose if he touched my car. I was watching him just invite his own self to do it to peoples cars without permission.

Strangers offering me unsolicited advice get shut down pretty fast. I try to be polite about it, but the interview doesn't last long ;)

My neighbor's grandson's step-father came over to talk to me about this one day. My well meaning neighbors sent him over since they see me washing my cars often. He gave me the pitch and I let him do a panel on my truck, then took some information. When I investigated I found these are really just multi-level marketing schemes.

The swirls he put in the paint served a purpose too! We did a side-by-side comparison of 3 different swirl removers and if we can find the picture will post them up.

I don't mind if someone asks if I would be interested in a free demonstration and gets the point when I give them a polite but firm no! It is when they just start applying your product to your car that I am tempted to incert the product up a certain orifice.
