I noticed the other day that some fine scratches were developing on my truck. I have been using Zaino for the past year and I love the way it looks. What can I use to remove the scratches from my paint? I have been told that if I use a polish that the oils in the polish will prevent the Z from bonding to the paint. Is this true? What products can I use before the Z process to remove the scratches? I do not own a pc and will be doing this by hand. What steps should I take to do this process I.E. wash, dry, clay etc....

Have you tried Z5 yet? Does a fill minor marring in the Zaino coats fairly well. Worth a shot before you strip everything off.

You're right, Zaino doesn't like going on over oils - but that not a problem. Polish and glaze with the products of your choice, then do a Z-7 wash and a Z-6 wipe down - the Zaino will be happy and cooperative!

If you use any Blackfire products, they contain a lot of persistant oils and you might need a dish detergent to get them all off. I've gotten the BF2 oils off without resorting to Dawn, but it's a lot of work!

So just washing with Z7 and wiping with Z6 will do the trick? Great. Thanks for the help. Is Meg's#9 a good choice for removing some fine scratches?

So far I haven’t tried Meguiar’s #3 or #9 (still waiting for the Big Brown Truck), but #2 and #7 are excellent products IMO.

My favorite product for removing light swirls is 3M Swirl Mark Remover. 3M makes excellent abrasives. The quality is superb, very consistent and reliable. Absolutely the highest quality.

For scratches go to 3M Finesse It. It's just a bit more agressive.

Best results are always with a PC but you can do it all with pure foam applicator pads, linear motions and patience.

Z5 has some limited filling capabilities but your best bet is to do as much repair before final sealing.
