So Ca. Fires = busy

To those detailers in the Southern Calif area. Just out of curiousity, how many of you Professional detailers anticipate business shooting up once they put out all these fires around here??

I work in Culver City and live in Whittier, neither place being anywhere near the fires and my car (as well as others) are coated in ashes.

*Every* person over the last 5-6 days has been in touch with me with the exception of just 1. To boot, I'm probably going to "bag" tomorrow as there is just too much ash floating around and a mask is out of the equation for me. I hope it's on the cool side next week.:)

Good luck to all of you who are experiencing effects of the fires. I can only imagine how much it would suck to go outside with ash and smoke littering the air.

Take care of yourselves and good luck with the cleanup! :2thumbs:

I hope that all of you in southern California make out okay and your homes are safe... keep your fireifghters in your thoughts as they battle these blazes.

My poor, poor, black car. It's gray! :(

Jedo...not too seem like a total a$$h/jerk, but, what about the 1000 plus residents who are more...."My poor poor house that I no longer have !"

Kinda puts all things in perspective ya know?

What the news is now reporting is that there will actually be more people displaced as a result of this fire than were displaced as a result of Hurricane Katrina. As a public safety employee. I applaud all of my fire fighter friends who are giving of themselves to fire these "wars" as well as my fellow LE officers who are doing their very best to keep people safe and protect properties from the looters that are already trying to sneak in.

FiveO, I understand where you're coming from *but* this thread was started with the talks of the cars and detailing after the fires. There is another thread talking about all keeping safe and thinking about those that are putting their lives on the line. I don't think any harm was meant at all.:)

That was supposed to be inferred by the reader. Like SM said, no harm meant. Joke in bad taste.

Jedo..sorry to be such a jerk. I know you didn't mean anything and I apologize for snappin at ya. Guess I just took your concern for your vehicle as a little ridiculous considering the current state of affairs. But like I said, I know you didn't mean anything by it. Please accept my apology for flame out! Take care and be safe my fellow autopian! !

And that was the idea :hifive: Shoulda probably included some sort of smiley there.

Now... back to topic.. I'm sure the detailers will be super busy in the coming weeks.

toyotaguy, time to take out an add in the South OC penny saver. All those Coto people are going to be looking to have their rides "de-ashed". Or if they wash their own cars and don't do it right (you know how abrasive ash is) they'll be looking to have their cars de-swirled.

I am sure that business is going to go up as soon as it is over.

Right now it is making things tough though, that is for sure. I have had to deliver all my cars this week inside so they aren't covered in ash, then watch my customers drive out of the bay and into the mess.

Hope nobody here has lost a home or anything. I know so many who are currently evacuated.

I was doing a little "poor me" as I was looking at my black Porsche and my gray Landcruiser (now a LOT grayer) covered with all this ash and crud. I quickly kicked myself in the a$$ and muttered something like "you butthole", think about the people who lost EVERYTHING! Get a grip and see if there's something you can do to help people who REALLY have problems.

Thanks for your post Five-O. And as you say let's ALL give thanks for the fire fighters and other emergency folks who worked and are still working to help and who "serve and protect"

God bless 'em all! :usa

Scott, thanks! It's literally raining ash.:(

You're welcome! I guess people with lung and breathing conditions are having a difficult time right now too.

Hopefully it will be over soon and y’all can get back into the swing of things :buffing:
