Snap-On (bluepoint) Rotary

Whoa.... for $289 I'd sooner buy a Metabo from TOL. Honestly, I don't think that Snap-On unit looks much better (if even as good as) than the Makita. That much extra money doesn't justify that particular machine; the Metabo would be a better choice in that price range.

Makita is a 10 amp. unit and weight is appx. 1/2 lbs. less. If this is for recreation it shouldnt make any difference. If its everyday use the Makita seems better.

I use a rotary about 3 times a year so I can get by w/an ebay special spinning the pads. Strickly recreation for me so weight and reliability are not prime concerns.

From what I have heard, most Snap-On power tools are ridiculously overpriced re-badges of mass produced tools. Go Makita or Dewalt. Both are great, proven, and have reasonable prices.

I've done some browsing around on the net recently and I came up with www.coastaltool.com A makita rotary is $169 plus shipping. Included is the handle, a tool bag, plus the two pads. Also you qualify for a 25 dollar gas card from shell because you spent more than $150 on makita items. I would think that that is a better deal than the snap-on.
