smears after menzerna

yo guys. deatiled a black formula this past saturday and once it was out in the sun it looked like it had hologram marks or smears from the NXT. I use the 50/50 water alcohol mixture to remove the residues after the menzerna twins. i leave the NXT on for about 30-45 minutes. something wrong here ?? i use the yellow cma pad for the IP, white pad for FP2, and a gray pad for NXT.

I read the thread "menzerna arrrg" here but i feel mine is a little different. thanks for your time fellas

;)

I'm the guy with the thread..and i also have a fbody..anyways I just used the ssr 2.5 and 1 and ex and now it looks nice. Just look at the pics in that thread..menzerna is hard to use period unless you are experienced!

I have had no problems on my black using IP on yellow or white and FP on white pads .. I use NXT over it applied with what is equal to an application pad and leave it 15 to 45 minutes.

you actually dont need the 50/50 mix for the menzerna twins since they dont contain fillers. Its a good i dea you used it anyway but i dont know what it could be since im assuiming you used a pc and they really dont leave swirls. you dont have any pics

i used cotton towels to remove my products. I do have some MF and maybe I will try that next time. Yes i am using a PC. NO pics, but it seems like the NXT smeared when i took it off. I looked over the car before applying the NXT and there was no markings

try using the MF's, quality ones. I know some will disagree, but cotton no longer touches my finish, only MF's.

i use MF to remove WG from my car and i am using them with my QD. i just have sooooo many cotton towels

oh well, it is just odd, since i did not notice smears on other cars that i have done with this combo :nixweiss

IMO, this has nothing to do with the Menzerna polishes, and everything to do with NXT. One reason I pushed NXT to the back of my shelf was because it smeared horribly on a Laguna Blue Miata I was doing for a friend. It was so bad that I cut the price I had quoted him in half, AND came back the next day to apply something not quite so craptacular. I'd had it smear to some extent on my silver WRX as well when I first tried it out, but, silver being as forgiving as it is, the smears weren't very obvious.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any cure for the smearing besides washing, or avoiding the offending product altogether.

Something to think about : I use NXT as a LSP a lot with out issue except for once and it was with a white Civic that was badly oxidized and I was trying to see what I would use to bring it up.

I had done the hood with ColorX and thought I had it all up then I applied NXT on top of it .. I got all kinds of streaking. I went back to ColorX for another good pass then NXT again without issue.

Turns out the oxidization was not totally gone and the NXTs cleaners must have pulled some up in places. I had applied the NXT lightly by hand and not in my usual manner with an orbital.

Once I did the second ColorX pass the NXT wasn't a problem.

I have used NXT on all sorts of colors. Blues, greens, silvers, and whites. I used it on my dads chili pepper red durnago and was ok.

for the "regular" customer i use # 9 before NXT and have had no issues.

For my car, parents cars, etc... i use the menzerna.

are you sure i do not have to use the 50/50 mix ?? cma's website instructs you to use it :nixweiss

Without going tothe shop I think it says use the 50/50 mix to "help" in the removal of the FP if needed.

i see :o

i am not going to make any major changes in my routine. i was getting the the bottom of the bottle of NXT

we'll see what happens with the next car :sosad

thanks for the help :xyxthumbs

Try using a QD that doesn't have carnuaba in it like Eagle One Wipe n Shine or Meguiars #34 to wipe off the smears.

The re-apply the NXT thinly and use a MF to wipe off.

The Menzerna is fine. It isn't causing the problems.
